Before he debuts at North Carolina Opera next season, get to know rising Colombian baritone Laureano Quant in this feature from OPERA America.

A graduate of Yale University and Manhattan School of Music, and recent member of Lyric Opera of Chicago's Ryan Opera Center, Quant has drawn attention for performances described as “robust and full of swagger.”

This October he brings that charisma and star quality to Raleigh in one of opera’s most iconic roles: the magnetic bullfighter Escamillo in Bizet’s CARMEN.

Fresh off her critically acclaimed debut as Cio-Cio-San in North Carolina Opera’s record-breaking production of MADAMA BUTTERFLY, soprano Caitlin Gotimer is making international headlines ahead of her UK debut as Tosca at Glyndebourne. In a new Q&A with musicOMH, she reflects on Puccini, the growing excitement around opera, and her recent experience in Raleigh, where she notes that “Opera is going through a bit of a cultural renaissance.”
