"An empty wall creates an empty mind." - Janice Withers Janice Withers is an accomplished Artist, Muralist, and Art Educator hailing from Raleigh, North Carolina. Her journey into the world of Visual Arts began during high school, where she discovered her innate talent and passion for creativity. Janice pursued her academic aspirations at North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University, graduating Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s Degree in Art Design. Her thirst for knowledge and artistic growth led her to achieve a Master’s Degree in Fine Arts from Howard University, specializing in Studio Painting. Additionally, she holds a Master’s Degree in Art Education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Throughout her academic journey, Janice Withers immersed herself in diverse artistic media, including drawing, watercolor painting, acrylic painting, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, and graphic design. This extensive background not only enriched her artistic skills but also fueled her passion for teaching others. As a muralist, Janice Withers believes in the transformative power of art, particularly in public spaces. Her works often reflect themes of community, identity, and cultural heritage, resonating deeply with viewers. In her own words, "An empty wall creates an empty mind," encapsulates Janice's belief in the ability of art to inspire, provoke thought, and create meaningful connections within communities.

THIS IS IT...THE SHOW IS NOW OPEN!

When the last piece was hung, I almost cried. I just stood there, taking it all in... and honestly, I didn't want to leave the space.

Seeing more than 20 years of creating and growing, becoming displayed together in one exhibition is something I can't fully put into words. This show represents not just the artwork, but the journey behind it,and also the challenges, the victories, and the passion that has never left me.

I'm so excited to finally share The Evolution of the Art Educator: Twenty Years of Teaching, Creating, and Growing, is now on view October 1–November 30, 2026 Garner Performing Arts Center

Are you planning to attend? Let me know in the comments, and feel free to tag a friend who loves art.

What an inspiring evening at THE BLKPRNT | Black Business Black Business the Art of Business. The evening was one of several events celebrating Black Entrepreneur Week ➡️ The Wright Village | Entrepreneur Hub

It was a pleasure connecting with such a talented community of artists, culinary creatives, and entrepreneurs who are all using their gifts to build meaningful businesses.

I enjoyed hearing everyone's stories, celebrating Black creativity, and making new connections. Events like this are a great reminder that collaboration, community, and creativity can open so many doors.

Thank you to Tiff Possible and Mel Wright, founder of ➡️ The Wright Village | Entrepreneur Hub and THE BLKPRNT | Black Business for creating such a welcoming and inspiring experience. I'm grateful to have been a part of it and look forward to seeing all that this amazing community continues to accomplish!
