Dear Cupids,

It’s Valentines week, and in some areas of the country (like ours) Springtime weather is around the corner! As you think about opening your closets and attics to declutter - Please keep the following post in mind!

Dear Tuesday Cupids,

Want some extra energy to get you through the day? I do. I think we would all say yes to that! But how to GET IT? Energy is one of those things we get from the right amount of sleep, exercise, sunlight, and a good diet helps too... Can you think of anything else?

I started a new book this week and the author shares an interesting perspective that I want to share with you: She says, “When I’m surrounded by a mess, I feel restless and unsettled... When I clean up that mess, I’m always surprised at the ((disproportionate)) ENERGY and cheer I gain.”

So tonight, take 15 mins and go through that pile of papers or fold those clothes or go through your sock drawer and throw out the old ones that you reach past everyday! That 15 mins spent will reap way more energy than you spent!

Housework is really being about the work of God — praying, serving, praising, and being a gift of grace — both in your home, and around the world, to a sisterhood of women in their homes.

Happy Wednesday Cupids,

It was a joy to work alongside these two ClutterCupids today, organizing areas in a new client’s kitchen, on behalf of the WFWC!

Steps to organize any sized pantry:
1) Categorize it (Like things are grouped together - snacks, breakfast, baking...)
2) Contain it (Smaller items are better kept in baskets - these are from the dollar store)
3) Zone it (Put all Categorized/Contained items together in the same spot every time)

If you’re blessed with a large pantry, you can include non-food items such as small appliances, Tupperware, paper plates/cups and napkins, etc... if yours is smaller, like mine, limit items to food only to avoid clutter.

Remember to always have fun in the kitchen, no matter the task. When in doubt call a friend, she will bring a new perspective and a smile. This was the most fun I’ve had organizing a pantry for a client, because I was with my friends Lisa and Beth 😇😇.

Hello Cupids,

We recently surprised our teenagers with tickets to see Hamilton The Musical, here in Raleigh. It was an amazing history lesson set to imaginative-beautiful lyrics, choreography, music and drama.

The kids had been singing the music around the house for months, so we made the investment, not in something we’d have to bring home, but in the experience we shared. It was an early Christmas gift for all of us.

Check out these great ideas here in this article:

Happy Saturday Cupids,

I haven’t posted anything here in forever... I’ve missed it! I’ve definitely been growing and learning and inching towards 1000 hours, which is what I need to take my exam and get licensed as a professional organizer. Woot Hoot!

So I opened my daughter’s desk drawer the other day to look for a rubber band and look at this! 😍 I felt joy down to my toes to know this is what she herself created and what she encounters when she opens her drawer! As a mom I’m thrilled, and as an organizer I’m over-joyed, because you see, my daughter Faith, was my very first client.

She used to put things into purses and bags and then squirrel them away and later when we’d look for whatever she was missing, we’d find it and other odds and ends. We went through the p r o c e s s of organizing a few times and from then on, she’s been a pro. So much so that she helps me with jobs.

Here’s to learning and growing and making life simpler, totally functional and beautiful.

Dear Cupids,

This isn't necessarily a new concept, but it's recently caught my interest. The idea of simplicity can carry into our wardrobe, especially if we've already gone through everything we own, and pruned down to keeping just what we love.

I have gone down that road and have reaped the blissful benefits of more space, time and energy in the process. This is why I'm so passionate about helping others.

And now, I think I'm ready for this. Less focus on what I wear, simple and comfy, as I approach my 50's - feels right. What do you think? I'd love to hear where you are with this idea.

"We are a society drowning in our possessions. People are looking for freedom and rescue. They are searching for new solutions. No wonder the capsule wardrobe movement continues to grow."

This made a whole lot of sense.

Happy Friday Cupids,

I hope this isn't too heavy for the weekend. It's really just a stern and colorful reminder of what matters most. Why do we need reminders? Because we are spiritual beings, living in a material world; And that is hard.

To make the most of your Friday, your weekend and your life;
Remember to:
- Love Well (that includes you)
- Live Fully (now, not someday)
- Let Go (because it's hard to go forward, dragging the past behind us). Sometimes even holding onto stuff can keep us focused on, sorting through, gazing at, tripping over, the past.

Loving well and Living fully can be tangled up in: to-do's, stuffed boxes, unfinished projects, commitments unmet... As you move through your Friday-Saturday-Sunday, assess where you've been, where you are and where you'd like to go. The answers to these questions will help you let go, move forward, live fully and love well.

Happy Saturday Cupids,

Have you heard this joke? It's great - I love it! Q: How many therapists does it take to change a lightbulb? A: Only one, but the lightbulb has to want to change!

I worked with a client over the summer, who wanted help for her husband's 'messy closet clutter' - I suggested that she try to inspire him, rather than change him. How? By ridding herself of (her) unwanted/unneeded/unused items and reaping the life changing results of new order in front of him. -When we share our joy, we inspire others (( to want to change ))!
