Gallery C owner Charlene recently organized a small group tour of the Black Mountain College campus alongside Professor Brian Crisp, an expert on the school's history and artistic legacy. Our current exhibition, "Black Mountain College: Avant-Garde Art from the Experimental School, 1933–1957," explores the groundbreaking institution that shaped modern American art! https://galleryc.net/exhibits/black-mountain-college-avant-garde-art-from-the-experimental-school-1933-1957-2/

Charlene and the group are seen here in front of a surviving Jean Charlot fresco, recently restored by the efforts of BMC Museum. They were also able to visit the original building's sun porch with Lake Eden in the background.

In the summer of 1946, some of the most visionary minds in American art gathered at Black Mountain College in the Blue Ridge Mountains — and the work they made together changed everything. We're thrilled to present Black Mountain College: Avant-Garde Art from the Experimental School, 1933–1957! On view May 16 – July 31, with an opening reception this Sunday, May 17, 1–3pm. https://galleryc.net/exhibits/black-mountain-college-avant-garde-art-from-the-experimental-school-1933-1957-2/
