Hurricane chaos, bookish magic, and the most incredible community. 📚🌪️❤️
Charlotte Bookpalooza, you were A DAY! 😂 Between last-minute weather pivots, a little chaos, and so much bookish love, this is one for the books (pun absolutely intended). And when all was said and done? My second-best market EVER! 🥹🎉
Let’s unpack it!
First, many, many thanks to Books on the House, BOOKPALOOZA, and the fabulous Kat & Jesse for organizing such an amazing event! These two put in countless hours of work and handled the curveball of North Carolina weather with patience, grace, and an incredible amount of hard work. They are the team behind Books on the House, a nonprofit dedicated to providing books and improving literacy in underserved communities. Charlotte Bookpalooza is one of their major fundraisers, so I know your support in attending means so much! ❤️📚
Second, as I mentioned, the weather forced Kat & Jesse to scrap their original setup plans and pivot. Was it crazy? Yes! Was it chaotic? Also yes! Will I do it again (if they'll have me)? ABSOLUTELY!
One thing I've learned in life is that sometimes you just have to roll with the flow. While the weather definitely didn't cooperate, it was still a wonderful experience. I'm so appreciative of all the time, effort, and problem-solving that Kat, Jesse, and the volunteers put into making this event happen. Planning an event of this size is hard enough when everything goes according to plan, much less when a hurricane decides to join the party! 🌪️
Third, THANK YOU to everyone who showed up and showed out in support! The book community truly never disappoints. This was my second-best market ever, and I am always incredibly humbled by your support. To everyone who squeezed into my booth, shopped small, chatted with me, or simply stopped to say, "That's so cute!" — you filled my cup, and I am so grateful. 🥹❤️
And finally, a little reminder that when you support a small business, you're supporting a real person with a whole lot of heart behind it. Every purchase, every kind word, every share, and every bit of encouragement means more than you know.
