Since we finished up our theatre season earlier than usual this year, you may have been wondering what advanced theatre students have been up to since then. And I am happy to share that we are taking on one final unit: Student Directs!

Encore Theatre Company’s second year members are hard at work on their student directed scenes! Students selected, analyzed, and prepared scenes to direct with their fellow first year company members as the cast. Each director is paired with a student technical director from L.S.S.D., resulting in completely student run performances!

It’s been amazing to watch everyone’s creativity come to life one last time before we wrap up the school year 🎭💛

Meet Ryen, who played Marina in our production of Much Ado About Nothing! Ryen and fellow Encore member, Julia (who plays Margaret), took on the challenge of sharing one role that had been split into two characters!

Margaret and Marina are lively, clever attendants to Hero who enjoy being part of the excitement around them. But when they become caught up in a plan they don’t fully understand, their actions contribute to a misunderstanding that changes everything. What begins as harmless involvement quickly leads to unexpected and dangerous consequences…
