Thank you to Art City summer camps for including Blam! in your artists' studio tour today! We had a lot of fun having the kids stop by the studio and visit with several of the artists today. Jen C**n shared the techniques of printmaking while Keith Adams discussed his painting style and let the kids try out some of the materials. I love having the opportunity to share the possibilities in art with people, especially kids! I had the chance to talk about abstract art and mixed media, showing them a variety of materials and techniques as we went along. I also showed them how this path has led to journaling with repurposed materials and hopefully encouraging them to try their hands in journaling with altered books. We all had a great time with our "presentations", unfortunately due to schedule conflicts not all the Blam! artists could be there but they were certainly there in spirit! Thanks again to Art City for thinking of us at Blam ............

Hard to believe First Friday is upon us once again! This Friday, Aust 3rd I will be at HagerSmith Design. It will be the beginning of the second month of the exhibit, "Fractured" and your chance to come see the works if you were unable to make it last month's First Friday. HagerSmith is a wonderful venue and is featuring fifteen of my new new abstract pieces. It is in a great location for First Friday as it is located just south of the corner of Martin street where several galleries will be open as well. Come on down and enjoy many galleries featuring new art as well as food and beverages. If you are coming from Raleigh go just south of Martin street and the building is on the right with large white 300 numbers on it. Head up the stairs and come on in! Look for the First Friday flags or signs to show you all the locations open that night - it is a lively night in downtown Raleigh. The event is at the Hagersmith Design Center 300 S. Dawson street and is from 6-9 Friday, August 3rd and will end until the end of the month. For those who couldn't make it last month I hope to see you Friday!

The ChromaZones

The ChromaZones are a group of triangle abstract artists who have been together for about a year now. It all started with a collaborative piece that was sold to benefit the Visual Art Exchange and St. Baldricks and has led to several more collaborative pieces that are being donated for charities as well as several group shows. I am so fortunate to be a part of this amazing group of people! There are lots of good things to come from the Chromazones so be sure to check out our page to keep posted!
