A project almost a year in the making 💚

It's been an honor to have my work displayed at the William King Museum of Art in Abingdon for the past 5 months as part of the "From These Hills: Contemporary Art in the Appalachian Highlands" exhibit! The collection is now traveling to Roanoke to be displayed at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine from February 12, 2024 - May 6. Check it out if you get the chance, there are some fantastic works in this show!

So excited to share that my piece, "The Template" is currently on display at the William King Museum of Art in Abingdon as part of their exhibit, "From These Hills: Contemporary Art in the Southern Appalachian Highlands". The exhibit runs from now until February 4th, 2024. Check it out if you get the chance!

I started this piece a few months after my grandma passed. When I was a kid we would play this game on vacation where she would throw coins, seashells, or anything else she could find in the pool for me to dive and find. I made this piece in honor of those special memories she created. 💙

"What We Leave Behind"

This is one of my new favorites! This piece is special to me. For me, it is about growth and letting go of the things that no longer serve you. I loved painting all the little details in the jeans and using the fluorescent colors for the stickers!

Finally finished with grad school so I can get around to posting some of my new work! My capstone project was inspired by Appalachia and this is one of my favorite pieces!
This quilt was donated by a kind stranger for this project and I am so grateful she was willing to part with it for the sake of art! She wrote me a very sweet letter that I am going to attach to the back of the canvas.
I took the already aging quilt and bleached and distressed it to give it a gradual fade. Then, I recreated what I imagined the original fabric might have looked like in oil paint on canvas. Once that dried, I attached and stitched the quilt to the canvas.

Started this one as a small side project to work on while waiting for other pieces to dry. I'm really happy with how it turned out. Most of my work is monochromatic so using color in this one was fun! I recently reopened my old Etsy store to sell prints and I'm thinking about having this one printed to add to my shop. If you're interested in one let me know!
