As I have gotten older, I've allowed the line between my personal life, creative life, and work life to narrow and blur. I wish I'd figured this out earlier, but so relieved to get it now. As Liza Minelli said, "I no longer audition for approval."

Who saw the Tony's last night? Raise a hand! I had the absolute thrilling honor to accompany my buddy David Jennings to the Tony Party for "Ragtime". An exciting night! Big congratulations to cast, creative team, crew, and staff!

This ensemble has gelled on and off stage--clearly. Sometimes casts will have that magical thing where because of circumstances, the production has challenges that motivate the cast to turn and rely on each other. That reliance built on trust and shared experience produces that magical thing. It's been a privilege to witness it on, and off stage.

If you have the opportunity to see "Ragtime" at The Lincoln Center-- do it.

I have literally fallen off a horse many times (luckily, not recently), however recently I fell off the figurative horse after trying to get back on.

I had an audition in Richmond, VA this past Monday night that I had - oh- put so much hope into. I worked on the sides. I worked on the song, over and over. Did my research on the musical. I truly believe and still believe I am the right actor for that role.
I drove the 3.5 hours to the audition. I had my pic/resume. I had put my outfit carefully together. I felt goooooooooood.

It has been a minute since I have auditioned--but I've got this! I just finished 2 semesters of teaching audition technique and coaching folks, please. I've got this! Eager to practice what I teach.

Did not get a call back much less the gig.

And so, again, I have to practice what I teach. Let it gooooooo.... Focus on the next project.

(but it still stings, doesn't it? I know. Right there with ya.)
