"I don't think there's a future without us" - Dr. Imo Nse Imeh Imo Nse Imeh states on Episode 14 of The Black Art & Culture Podcast, available NOW on the Mahogany Gallery YouTube Channel.

We felt that.

Imeh said several poignant statements in our conversation and mentioned that Black artists don't just speak to trauma, but also divinity, history and possibility.

MAHOGANY IN THE NEWS | ATLANTA 🎨

What is the state of Black art in 2026? Black Art In America takes a look at that question through the energy, artists, galleries and conversations that shaped this year’s Atlanta Art Fair.

We’re honored that Mahogany Gallery and our presentation of SEEN were included in the conversation, and especially proud to see Mahogany-represented artist Tasha Beckwith’s Between Dimensions selected among the 10 works that made BAIA “do a double-take.” Nate Austin's "Daughter of the Unbroken" was also featured among the selections.

The article also shares our perspective on Black art, identity, legacy and why creating spaces where we can truly SEE ourselves remains so important.

A special thank you to Black Art in America for the interview, the conversation, and for continuing to document the people doing this work.

Black art is legacy. We’re here.

Dr. Imo Nse Imeh

is a prominent Nigerian-American visual artist, draftsman, and scholar of African Diaspora art. He currently serves as an Associate Professor of Art and Art History at Westfield State University in Massachusetts. .

His powerful studio art practice and research interlock to investigate historical, theological, and philosophical themes surrounding the Black body, cultural identity, trauma, and resilience.

Dr. Imeh’s cultural roots trace back to his Ibibio heritage from southeast Nigeria, which forms a vital anchor for both his academic scholarship and visual art. After studying at Columbia University, he earned his doctorate from Yale University, where his research deeply examined the cultural aesthetics and rituals of Ibibio women.

With Mahogany Gallery, Dr. Imo Nse Imeh presents an exploratory series expanding the thought and ex*****on of the monumental works for which he is known, offering collectors a more intimate entry into his evolving practice.

Be sure to stop by Booth at the Atlanta Art Fair to see the works of Imeh, exhibiting with Mahogany Gallery.

The newwest addition to the book collection, Reckoning, the catalog from the show highlight the ways that artists exemplify the tradition of exhibiting resilience in times of conflict, the ritual of creation and the defiant pleasure of healing.

Reckoning, is about looking, witnessing, seeing and being seen.

The book features the work of a plethora of somw.of my favorite contemporary and legacy artists.

I am excited to share more about the collection of art literature.

One of the hats I wear is not only as owner and founder of but the most rewarding hat I wear is being a father. My daughter Nia Terry has watched me navigate this arts ecosystem from many vantage points, watching my every move. Now as she grows into her own as a soon to be adult, artist, entrepreneur and young woman creative, i'm thankful for the connections I've been able to forge for her as she slowly creates her own art career.

Shout out to two amazing artists I've introduced her to who have stepped up as mentors and are shining examples of leaders in their own right, the amazing Lynthia Edwards and Rosy Petri .

Art World, it is an honor and my pleasure to introduce you to my baby, girl Nia Terry.
