Quincy Civic Music Association Announces 2026 to 2027 Concert Season
QUINCY, Ill. The Quincy Civic Music Association proudly announces its 2026-2027 concert season, continuing a tradition that has enriched the community for nearly one hundred years. Organized in 1927, the Quincy Civic Music Association is the oldest existing cultural organization in Quincy devoted to presenting professional entertainment.
The season opens on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at 7:30 p.m. with The OK Factor at Baldwin Auditorium. Cellist Olivia Diercks and violinist Karla Peters have captivated audiences across the country with their original music that blends classical traditions with contemporary influences. Their remarkable musical connection, engaging stage presence, and creative artistry have earned praise for performances that are both familiar and refreshingly original. In addition to performing, the duo is deeply committed to music education through workshops, school residencies, and community outreach programs. During their visit to Quincy, they will also conduct a workshop for Quincy Public Schools students, providing young musicians with an opportunity to learn directly from the duo.
The second concert welcomes acclaimed American pianist Brian Woods back to Quincy on Sunday, November 8, 2026, at 3:30 p.m. at First Union Congregational Church. Having previously performed with the Quincy Symphony Orchestra, Woods has since built an international career as a soloist, recitalist, and recording artist. Recognized for his exceptional musicianship and expressive performances, he has appeared with orchestras and in recital halls throughout the United States and abroad. His recording Wanderings earned recognition as one of the top albums of 2024, further establishing his reputation as one of today's outstanding concert pianists.
The season continues Saturday, March 20, 2027, at 7:30 p.m. with The Flyboys at State Street Theater. The popular vocal group is known for energetic performances celebrating the music of the World War Two era and the Great American Songbook. The performance location will be announced later.
The season concludes on Saturday, April 10, 2027, at 7:30 p.m. when The Pete Ellman Big Band brings an evening of exciting jazz and swing to Baldwin Auditorium. Known throughout the Midwest for outstanding musicianship and dynamic performances, the ensemble promises a memorable finale to the concert season. The evening will also feature a special opening performance by the Quincy Senior High (QHS) Jazz Band, showcasing the talents of local student musicians before the headlining performance.
