UPROOTED returns May 15th and 16th, this time with TWO NIGHTS (& two entirely unique sets) of new live music & dance collaborations

We invite you into our explorations, experiments, & embodiments of paradise as we witness the ongoing erosion of freedom, pleasure, and care, how do we continue to build paradise for ourselves & our communities? what does it feel like in our bodies? what are the maps (new & inherited) that get us there?

proceeds from both performances go to Mi Tlalli & their critical organizing efforts to protect our neighbors their work reminds us that are no borders in paradise

C86'd DIY: Fortress (album release)

released their debut EP “who will dress our soldiers?” late last year and we are honored to be bringing it to the cassette format! Somewhere between the Touch And Go noise rock of the early 90’s and the basement emo we all love, Fortress really brings a sound of their own. Noise vignettes, nonchalant vocals, melodic undercurrents, and an unsettling angular angst are just a few of the flavors Fortress conjures up in every track.

With support from Silk, Wince, and The Vince Lombardi Quintet

Irregulars w/ Some of Mine + Numyn

Hot on the heels of completing the upcoming LP Heretic Breaks with Love, Numyn's signature blend of nu-modal crustpop, doug techno, and anarcho-honk finds a fresh suffusion of Punk&Alternative.

Some of Mine are a Brooklyn-based trio made up of Alberto Paez on bass and vocals, Aaron Neber on guitar, and Max Horwich on drums. They play a hazy blend of dream pop, noise rock, shoegaze and no wave, with earthy undertones of 90s college radio and floral notes of 60s wall-of-sound pop music.

Irregulars is a duo comprised of Ezra Tenenbaum and Christian Michael Filardo. Their music arrives as a collaboration through synthesis, drum machines, field recordings, and analog tape experiments.

AdHoc Presents Gia Margaret, Brendan Eder Ensemble

Every artist has to discover their voice. Gia Margaret didn’t find herself until she lost hers. With a vocal injury that kept her from singing for years, she developed other musical languages, mastering the grammar of an intricate, homey form of ambient music pioneered by Ernest Hood and perfected by The Books. Now, her physical voice healed and her artistic voice honed, she comes full circle with Singing, her first vocal album since 2018’s There’s Always Glimmer.

Brendan Eder is a Los Angeles composer and drummer best-known for his eponymous genre-bending ensemble of woodwinds, drum set, and bass. In 2023 Eder released his third album, THERAPY, a collection of meditative compositions recorded mostly at a church in Southern California.

Qu**rs in Purgatory

Qu**rs in Purgatory is an exploration of q***r ritual, community, and transcendence through contemporary dance, drag, and theatrical spectacle. Inspired by Dante’s Purgatorio, the work reimagines the terraces of Purgatory as a series of q***r spaces—sites of joy, longing, excess, and transformation.

Healing Sound Bath on the Sanctuary Organ

Stone Circle Theatre, in collaboration with classically-trained pianist and certified sound healing practitioner Allison Jones, is excited to present a donation-based sound bath on the large sanctuary organ for the Ridgewood community and beyond, on Sunday evening April 19th. A sound bath is different from a traditional concert in that it is an intentional deep listening / meditative experience designed to stir the soul, promote healing and even induce altered states of consciousness. Participants can expect to be washed in a relaxing chord of sound that very gradually changes in volume, layering and tonal presence for 45 minutes. Doors will open at 7pm and sound will begin at 8pm. Bring a blanket or yoga mat and * arrive early to claim your spot * ! Lying down is recommended, but chairs and cushions are also available to accommodate accessibility needs. Due to the sensitive acoustics of the space late entry will not be permitted.

Nun Play
March 26, 27 at 7:30pm
March 28 at 2:30pm and 7:30pm

And Jesus said “Go to the church in Ridgewood. There you will find 5 women dressed in robes, awaiting your arrival. They will greet you with a song, a dance, offer dwelling for your presence — all an attempt to distract you. Now is the time to focus. To pray, to repent, to sit with yourself in silence. Listen to the voice in your head. You will confuse it as your own and that is okay. Make sure it is mine. Follow my voice. I promise it is safe. Now do as I say—”

Nun Play considers the conception of rules, the purpose of faith, and the sacrifices one makes in life to achieve any semblance of “safety”.
