I don’t often share my non-dinosaur themed art on here but I thought I’d show off a little of what I’ve been up to. Hope you guys like it! The first two are part of a personal project of mine and the last one is a study done of the town of Astoria in the Northwest part of the US! I think I must be missing rain down here in AZ because these are kinda dark and gloomy but I’m really missing a good rainstorm! 😂 Anyways, enjoy! @ Queen Creek, Arizona

I had so much fun with this piece! For years I looked in books at amazing art that inspired me and now I’m so lucky to have that privilege of doing that art myself. I hope that in a similar way this piece of art transports you to a time long forgotten, away from the dangers and worries of the present.

Hey Dino Lore followers! I know it’s been way too long since I’ve posted any cool dinosaur content but I am excited to share something I’ve been working on lately. I’ve been thinking about depicting dinosaurs in a more naturalistic way. Normally we see illustrations of dinosaurs in their prime with perfect features but real animals have their own quirks. In that spirit here is a unique Ceratosaurus past it’s prime! I’m planning on coloring this one next so keep an eye out!

It’s always a great feeling to go back to traditional media. There’s just something about watercolor’s untamable reputation that makes it fun to work with. Spontaneity is in my nature so coming back to water color is a bit like coming home. Speaking of which, I decided to take some time off for the holidays and family which is why you haven’t seen much from Dino Lore lately. Don’t worry! I’m not going away forever, though I won’t be as prolific as before. I want to bring back the weekly quizzes as well as the occasion art post so keep an eye out for those throughout your week! Welcome to Dino Lore 2020 everyone! I’m looking forward to exploring the world of dinosaurs with you this year!

Lasting from the turn of the century to the 70’s, this was the “classic” period of paleoart where dinosaurs got their iconic look! Artists such as Charles R Knight and Zdenek Burian creates beautiful murals and books that would leave a lasting effect on the public! So much in fact that many of their designs are still being emulated today! While much of their work is outdated when it comes to anatomy, there is no denying the skill of many of the artists of this period! So I’m excited to explore that this week with you all! @ Queen Creek, Arizona
