th the community. We focus our education on technical training and performance while also giving our students a strong sense of self awareness and creative opportunities to ensure their successes moving forward. Our mission is to foster and aid in cultivating each student's individual artist in a non-competitive, progressive and supportive atmosphere. Students receive intensive professional training in their chosen art form and study inside of programs that encourage a mastery of technical skill, creative exploration, performance, and historical/theoretical knowledge. The Complex Performing and Creative Arts Centre is a conservatory learning environment; we proudly focus our energies on technical proficiency, creativity, performance, choreography and arts activism. The Complex offers Four Schools of Education: Ballet and Modern Dance, Contemporary Dance, Theatre/Music, and Visual Arts. Dance classes are offered at intensive and recreation levels. Students are offered the highest levels of technical training and creative exploration. Theatre Students have opportunities to perform pre-produced and original work, while mastering the skills needed to advance in the theatrical realm as well as enhance students' confidence, self-awareness, communication skills, and physical awareness. Music Programs are open to ages 5 to 18, giving students theory, performance, ensemble work, and composition. Creative/Visual Art classes enhance creative process and offer students a forum for exploring their creative voice and furthering technical accuracy. These classes take students further into their searches as artists and learners. The Complex Performing and Creative Arts Centre is home to The Complex Dance Theatre, a professional level modern/contemporary dance and performance company that builds dance awareness in Northeastern CT. The Complex Dance Theatre offers opportunity for adult dancers to create, explore, build, and performance original work. The Complex is also home to two student dance companies: The Complex Youth Ballet Company for children ages 6 to 18 and The Complex Modern Dance Company for ages 12 to 19. Both student companies present classical work and new work. The Complex Modern Company creates their own choreography/composition in response to social, self, environmental, and historical concepts. For passionate theatre students, The Complex houses The Complex Junior Players, a youth theatre company that performs three shows per year under the educational program, The Ultimate Music and Theatre Experience. The Company presents small and large scale plays and musicals, as well as original work. The Complex Players, an elite theatre company for teens, allows opportunities for more advanced students and is designed for a deeper level of inquiry and experience. Students are chosen to be a part of this company based on their outstanding efforts and progression in the pre-professional theatre education program. The Complex offers recreational classes in addition to our pre-professional tracks of study. Creative arts are a proven source of positive development in children and teens, we aid students in creating their voice in the art world, therefore helping them to achieve success in life. Our classes instill discipline, control, patience and most importantly, self-confidence and identification.
