We are hours away from ending our fundraising campaign to help bring more murals to Putnam County this September. Your support helps continue the creation of world-class murals, educational opportunities, and community participation in the art-making process. We’re one month into the 2026 Putnam County Mural Festival fundraising campaign—and because of this community, we’re building real momentum. With just a few weeks left (campaign ends May 27), we’re inviting YOU to help bring this vision across the finish line.
Together, we’re working to create 6 new murals across Putnam County—transforming everyday spaces, celebrating local stories, and creating places we’re proud to call home.

The 2026 Putnam County Mural Festival is now accepting applications!

We are commissioning six new large-scale murals to be installed across Putnam County in September 2026. Selected artists will receive compensation and the opportunity to create impactful public work in visible, community-centered spaces.

Professional and emerging muralists are encouraged to apply.

🎉 Congratulations to Kate Knaul, co-director and co-founder of the Putnam County Mural Project, on her recent appointment as the new Executive Director of Main Street Greencastle! In this new role, Kate will continue her dedication to strengthening the Greencastle community, creating a vibrant, welcoming space for residents, business owners, and visitors alike.

We can't wait to see all the amazing things she'll accomplish for our community!

Main Street Greencastle has officially hired Kate Knaul as its next executive director. The Main Street Board of Directors announced Knaul’s hire last week to the community.

Check out the talented muralists in the North Putnam High School Fine Arts class! We love to see our community’s youth embrace mural art and here is a great example. During this years mural fest, the class even got to meet with our muralists and watch their work in action.

We are thankful to have partnered with Indiana Housing & Community Development Authority and Patronicity’s CreatINg Places program for our 2022 mural fest and 2019 Greencastle Silos projects. Two parks, two new murals! Cancilla and Maple Berry parks each got a new mural during our recent 2024 mural fest, thanks to the amazing Emily Eldridge. We are happy to see a pop of color alongside in these spaces that kids and families enjoy every day.
