Nothing like mixing and collaborating with the boys! Working on a overdue tune with Nick Flowers and Jeff Wright. Really excited to get this one out there. Really talented folks working on this track!
Using Slate VMR (VCC MixBuss & CS-EQ), Waves Scheps Omni, and HDelay to get this beast more furiocous.

Setting up a few sessions and rehearsal schedules for this weekend. Very grateful to be doing what I love again!
When I closed the studio in Leesburg, I took about 6 months off from recording artists and teaching lessons. I've been working hard to finalize my own album as well as fitting into a full time job. I took an unexpected call and booked a session yesterday, breaking that stride. I'm not a spiritual person but when I set up those mics, greeted the artist, and got to the desk again everything felt in place. I believe happiness is what they call it 😅
Groove is once again open for business but occupying the wonderful studio, Goose Creek Music and Entertainment in Purcellville. Very professional, comfortable, and large home studio. Huge thanks to Mike Pugh for the use of the space! Looking forward to recording, mixing, and mastering many future projects. Shoot me an email at [email protected] to setup a session!
Vintage dbx 161 compressor/limiter for sale!
Good condition 1970s 161 with well functioning knobs and meter switches. Steel plated rack attachment, 2 RCA to 1/4" cables, two prong attached power cable included. Fully functioning RCA I/O on rear panel. Will ship for $30.
After over four years, I have decided to close Groove permanently. I have been trying to sell the business since April, met with a few interested buyers, but no one has purchased the business. It is an unfortunate situation but there will be bigger and better things. I want to take the time to appreciate and thank all the artists, students, parents, my family, and friends who have helped support Groove over the years. Especially my parents and my wife who have been there for me every step of the way. With that support, I have been able to keep the business going and maintain a fraction of commercial success and happiness. Unfortunately, the positives have not outweighed the negatives.
I have worked very hard the past four years to create a space to learn, record, mix, and master music. When I was 12 years old, I decided that I loved recording and one day would open a studio of my own. I saw myself sitting at an SSL 4k E console somewhere in California, with a rock band in the live room, a few great engineers in the control room (including myself), and a fat paycheck. It was my dream. I put in the time and work to learn and get myself there during high school, college, got a degree in Music Business, and opened up a place to call my own. In some ways my dream did come true. However, it has truly been a struggle to keep Groove afloat.
Teaching students and working with local and touring artists has been a lot of fun in so many ways. I have so much passion for recording and mixing and guitar pedals. I get so excited to talk about circuitry, compression, and audio in general. It pains me to have to close our doors, but I believe that there is good reason. I have a few more students finishing up their packages this month, a couple more projects to wrap up, and an album of my own to finalize.
With all this said, we will be leaving the premises on/before July 31st. If you are interested in buying gear, instruments, studio furniture, sound treatment/proofing, speakers, etc… we have a lot of it. Vintage and new. You can reach me at (703)-507-0980 or [email protected]. There are some items on Facebook and Reverb, but I have a full list of all the items available. I could really use the help to sell everything that I can. All pieces are priced out accordingly and ready for a new home.
I hope that as I find a new career path that I’ll start to see optimism and admiration once again. Maybe one day I’ll find that SSL console dream possible again. Thanks for listening and your support. This is Captain Groove signing off.

Like new/lightly used PreSonus Tube preamp for $125.
Features drive and gain knobs with clipping monitor, VU meter, mic/line in, mic/line out, phase switch, instrument/mic button, hpf at 80hz, and phantom power.
Compact, the ever-popular TubePre V2 professional tube preamplifier employs our popular XMAX Class A solid-state preamp, followed in the signal path by a 12AX7 vacuum-tube stage. A dual-servo (no capacitors) gain stage lets you boost the signal to smoking hot levels without significantly increasing noise. Discrete components and high-voltage operation offer dynamic range and detail not found in other single-channel tube preamps in its class. Built tough enough for serious gigging, the TubePre V2 is a great choice for guitars and microphones alike.
We are selling some Groove gear! 🎹🎧🎵🎶 All gear has been tested and used in a smoke-free professional environment. Total for all pieces: $900

Vintage ADA S1000 Mono Delay/Modulation unit - $200 (great condition). Very cool piece of gear. Offers flanger, chorus, double, and multiple delay settings for fine tuning and parallel FX.
Behringer Virtualizer 3D FX2000 Stereo Unit- $125 (like new). Stereo multi-fx unit. Compression, eq, delay, reverb, distortion, tape/vinyl fx, and more. This thing does a lot. Great for analog beginners.
Please let me know if you have any questions about any of the pieces and I'd be glad to answer.
