Maybe my most proud painting I ever created “Mylo” 2010, 48”x48”, oil on panel -unedited version second page. (the story goes) Back in 2008 my dear friend generously invited me to move in with he and his wife Lily so I could rebuild my life in America again after being in the Czech Republic for years. They took me in like family and set me up with everything I needed to thrive. During that time came the news of their first child Mylo born in 2009, This is painted from a photo Bryan shot in the delivery / operating room that he showed us at the hospital. From the first second I knew I needed to paint it, it took me months to all permission and many more to open the photo knowing I’d have to address the surgery in the background. Because of this moment I’ll never forget what incredibly resilient and magical creatures women are.
