Kerrin Grant Wildlife Art

Kerrin Grant Wildlife Art I create realistic pastel drawings of animals, particularly wildlife. I sell prints of my art online for home and office display.

I create realistic pastel drawings of animals. From a young age my love for animals has been a driving force in my life. I have college degrees in wildlife biology and wildlife nutrition and spent my adulthood caring for animals through veterinary medicine, wildlife rehabilitation, and nutrition. I have always used my hobbies of drawing, painting, and photography to capture memories of the world o

f nature and its inhabitants. I have now turned my attention to creating realistic pastel drawings of animals to illustrate their magnificence. I wish to share the joy they bring to me with all of you by offering prints of my drawings. I hope they bring you as my joy as they do to me as I bring their essence to life on the drawing board.

🐼 New from the easel. Here’s my latest pastel drawing: a giant panda cub, nestled contentedly against a tree. I referenced a photo from Pixabay to capture the cub’s lifelike gaze and gentle pose, then layered in soft textures and earthy tones to evoke the peaceful energy of its forest home.
Creating wildlife art like this allows me to slow down and study every gesture, curve, and shadow—and bring it to life with emotion. Hope this little one brings a smile to your day. 😁🐼

For the last few months, I have been concentrating on free-hand sketching, so this is my first pastel in a while. This otter pup was too cute to pass up. I used a photo from Pixabay for reference.

I just finished an acrylic painting of a grizzly bear hanging out in the snow. I have been working on depicting mammal fur in paints, which is very different from doing the same in pastels, and harder to get accurate than bird feathers! Definitely a work in progress 🥴. I used a photo from Pixabay for reference. Canvas size is 11 x 14".

I have now started painting on canvas --- this Canada goose is my first to be completed. I used watercolor canvas and really like it so far. It has a very smooth surface --- much smoother than the surface found on cotton linen canvases. Reference photo credit goes to Robert Turley.

This is a black-capped chickadee in winter painting I just completed in acrylics. I have been practicing feather detail and really like the wing and tail feathers from the rear view. I used a photo from Unsplash for reference.

I just finished this practice study of a black-capped chickadee in acrylics. I am still practicing putting in feather tracts correctly. In this piece I also had the opportunity to practice making realistic-looking tree limbs and branches. Creating the trees way back in the foggy background was kind of fun and gave the piece a sense of depth. I used a photo from Pixabay for reference.

I am learning about feather tracts in birds, so my drawings and paintings are more accurate. I did the close-up of a black-capped chickadee so he would be large enough to put in all the details. He was done in acrylics on 9x12" watercolor paper (gessoed). I used a photo from Unsplash for reference.

This is a pastel drawing I just completed, of a willow tit in winter. Willow t**s are small passerine birds that are related to the chickadees of North America. I used a photo from Pixabay for reference.

I did this Cocker Spaniel pup in acrylics. The pup reminded me of my old friend Senorita, who left my side last year to live with the angels. A photo from Unsplash was used as the reference.
