Fine Arts Center for the New River Valley

Fine Arts Center for the New River Valley Art Gallery, Gift Shop, Art Classes, Live Music
-
Located in Pulaski, Virginia This honor was designated by the Virginia Historic Landmarks Commission.

Incorporated in 1978 as 501 (c) (3) non-profit corporation in Pulaski, Virginia, the Center was initially located in the Fairview Home, which was a 1928 Alms House located across from Pulaski County High School. In 1982 the Center moved to its present location, the former Cato's, a women's clothing store. Considered a prim example of Victorian commercial architecture, the brick two-story building

was built in 1898 and is part of the Downtown Historic Landmark District. The Fine Arts Center was created out of a need to augment the arts education offered in the school system and to provide a vehicle for the arts presentation to residents of the New River Vally. In its more than thirty years of operation, the Fine Arts Center has touched the lives of approximately 500,000 patrons by way of visits to the gallery, classes, performances, and special events. The Center has hosted a combination of 4,100 classes or programs (visual or performing arts) involving 15,000 artists.

๐ŸŽจ Why Support the Fine Arts Center for the New River Valley?

This upcoming Wednesday and Thursday, our community will come together for Give Local NRV, and we'd like to take a moment to share what your support makes possible.

Throughout the year, the Fine Arts Center serves the New River Valley from our locations in Pulaski and Blacksburg. We offer classes for children and adults, present exhibitions featuring local and regional artists, host concerts and performances, support youth through programs like the Scholastic Art Awards, provide opportunities for artists to grow their careers, and create events that bring people together through creativity.

Over the past year, we've engaged hundreds of artists, provided arts experiences to hundreds of young people, welcomed thousands of visitors to our programs, expanded opportunities in Blacksburg, continued growing programs in Pulaski, and begun exciting new projects like the mural now taking shape on the side of our building.

The arts enrich our communities, strengthen local economies, encourage lifelong learning, and help make the New River Valley a vibrant place to live, work, and visit.

Give Local NRV begins at noon on Wednesday, June 24 and continues through noon on Thursday, June 25. Early Giving is open now, and every donation made during the campaign helps us continue serving communities throughout the region.

If you believe the arts matter, we would be honored to have your support.

๐ŸŽจ The mural continues to take shape!

Thank you to everyone who stops by each day to watch the progress and talk to muralist Jay Scott. It is an exciting time, and we're looking forward to seeing the finished mural become a welcoming landmark.

Over the past few months, we've worked hard to bring significant improvements to our building, including exterior repairs, replacing aging and damaged gutters, and repainting to prepare for the mural. We are especially grateful to Semper Fi Painting for their outstanding work preparing the wall for mural installation and repainting the building in its fresh blue colors. Their work has already transformed the building's appearance, and they'll be returning soon to complete the remaining second-floor front facade.

This mural project is made possible through our partnership with 'Round the Mountain and the Town of Pulaski, and through it, we're excited to create a more vibrant, welcoming, and creative community for everyone.

If you like what you're seeing and would like to help support our building improvements & repairs, as well as classes, exhibitions, concerts, youth programs, and community arts initiatives, Early Giving for Give Local NRV is open now.

Every donation helps!

And thank you again to Semper Fi Painting, Jay Scott Studios, 'Round the Mountain, the Town of Pulaski, and everyone who continues to support the arts in the New River Valley.

Something exciting is taking shape on the side of our building!

Over the past few days, we've watched mural artist Jay Scott begin bringing our new public mural to life.

What you're seeing in this video is just the beginning.

This mural is being created through a partnership between the Fine Arts Center for the New River Valley, the Town of Pulaski, and 'Round the Mountain.

If you've followed us over the past year, you've probably noticed a lot of changes. We've been improving our building, repainting the exterior, expanding programs, supporting artists, offering more classes, and creating new opportunities for our community to engage with the arts.

Projects like this happen because people believe the arts matter.

Jay will continue working on the mural in the coming days, so be sure to stop by and watch the progress.

And if you like what we're building here and would like to help support future projects, classes, exhibitions, concerts, and community arts programs, Early Giving for Give Local NRV is open now.
