Kurt brings more than 25 years of national motorsports broadcasting experience, with an incredible résumé that includes IndyCar, NASCAR, World of Outlaws, NHRA, Pirelli World Challenge, and the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb on SPEED TV and ESPN. Adding Kurt is another significant milestone in our ongoing revitalization effort and another major step toward making High Banks Speedway one of the premier short tracks in the region.

"Kurt joining the High Banks Speedway team is a clear sign of where this speedway is headed," said Steve Lacy. "We're putting tremendous effort into bringing this facility back the right way, and having someone with Kurt's experience behind the microphone, along with his marketing expertise, is another important step forward. We can't wait to hear him call the action when the green flag drops in May 2027."

Hello Racers and Fans,

I want to address and clear up some false rumors that have been circulating on social media regarding the management of High Banks Speedway.

As of today, I, Steve Lacy, will be serving as the General Manager/Owner of the track. The GM position is not being filled by anyone else at this time.

I also want to be very clear: while fellow promoter Joe Bellm and High Banks Speedway have a professional relationship, there is absolutely no affiliation between us. We are not partners, we will not co-sanction any events, and Joe has absolutely no involvement in the ownership, management, or operation of High Banks Speedway. This has never even been discussed. We will co-exist to the best of our abilities.

Unfortunately, this is one of the downsides of social media. While we will always address false and defamatory statements through the appropriate channels, our focus remains exactly where it should be—on building the best racing facility and experience possible for our racers and fans. Our track social media policy is attached.

We appreciate everyone’s support and ask that you rely on official High Banks Speedway announcements for accurate information. We’ll be announcing the individuals who have filled our posted positions in the near future.

Thank you for your continued support. We can’t wait to see everyone at the track!

🏁 High Banks Speedway at Beacon Hill is looking for an experienced Flagman!

Our Technical Director, Announcer and Concessions Manager positions have officially been filled! Thank you to everyone who applied. We are now focused on finding the right person to join our team as our Flagman. $150 to $300 a night.

We're looking for someone with at least 3 years of flagging experience who knows how to keep an asphalt short track safe, organized, and under control.

A qualified flagman understands that every decision impacts the race. Knowing when to throw the yellow flag is important, but knowing when not to throw it is just as critical.

If you've got the experience and want to be part of something exciting, we'd love to hear from you.

Hello racers and fans,

We’re excited to announce that we’re beginning the hiring process for several positions at High Banks Speedway! If you’re interested in joining our team—or know someone who would be a great fit—please click the link below to apply or send us a message. We’d love to hear from you! These positions all require at minimum 3 years experience in this field. Most positions will start in the first quarter of 2027.

We also wanted to share an update regarding our management team.

Adam Hilton has been an incredible asset to the racing community and to High Banks Speedway. His passion for racing, extensive knowledge, ability to build outstanding race cars, and thoughtful input have been invaluable throughout this project.

After a lot of discussion, we mutually agreed that the distance, the time commitment required for the role, and the continued growth of his business make it difficult for him to serve as General Manager. While he is stepping away from that position, he remains a valued friend of High Banks Speedway, and we will continue to seek and appreciate his advice and expertise whenever possible.

Adam, thank you for everything you’ve done to help bring this project to life. We truly appreciate your dedication and support, and we wish you continued success with everything you do.

There is a lot of work happening at High Banks to get this place right. We are tearing things down to build them back up, which means a repaved track, new bleachers, and updated buildings. We will keep the updates coming as we get closer to race day!

Hello racers and fans!

We know it’s been a while since our last update, and we truly appreciate everyone sticking with us. This is a long post to catch up!

Behind the scenes we’ve been working through one of the biggest hurdles of this entire project—completing our permitting and site plans with the county. While the process took longer than expected, I want to give credit where it’s due. Pueblo County has really stepped up. They have a lot of new staff who are working incredibly hard to support local businesses, and it shows. They’ve been responsive, professional, and genuinely committed to helping us navigate the process the right way. The County Commissioners and Health Department have also been fantastic to work with. We finally feel like we’re moving in the right direction, and that momentum is exciting.

With those pieces falling into place, work around the facility has really started picking up.

As you’ll see in these updated photos, progress is happening everywhere you look. While we still have a tremendous amount of work ahead of us, it’s incredibly rewarding to watch this old facility slowly come back to life.

The pit grandstands have been completely disassembled so they can be rebuilt correctly—making them safer and better than ever. We’re also adding additional grandstands on the spectator side to create more seating for our fans.

The buildings continue to be transformed, with remodeling taking place inside and out. Every improvement is made with the goal of creating a cleaner, safer, and more enjoyable experience for racers, crews, officials, sponsors, and fans alike.

There have been long days, late nights, unexpected challenges, and more obstacles than we ever imagined. But every challenge we’ve faced has only strengthened our commitment to bringing this facility back the right way—not the easy way.

This project simply wouldn’t be possible without some incredible people and businesses who have stepped up to help.

Chris Cullen has been nothing short of amazing. He continues to bring his own equipment to the track, spends countless hours helping us move dirt, demolish old structures, clean up the property, and tackle whatever needs to be done. He’s asked for absolutely nothing in return and has gone far beyond anything we agreed on. Chris, your generosity and work ethic have made a tremendous impact on this project. Thank you.

A huge thank you goes to David Weihrich with Advanced Design/Build for completing the engineering required for our site plans. It was a complicated and a detailed process, but David’s expertise and dedication were instrumental in getting us through it and moving this project forward.

Thank you to The Wire Wizards, who have begun the enormous task of upgrading the electrical infrastructure throughout the facility. It’s a massive undertaking, and they’re doing outstanding work that will benefit the speedway for years to come.

Thank you to High Plains Home and Ranch Services for pouring the concrete pad for our new pit entrance building. Another important piece of the puzzle is now in place because of their quality work.

And a special thank you to Jeff and Moe with Colorado Barns. They’ve been hard at work transforming both the interior and exterior of several buildings, and the craftsmanship speaks for itself. These guys are first-class, and we’re fortunate to have them on this project.

We’d also like to recognize KC Computer Services for their outstanding work designing and installing our new IT infrastructure and state-of-the-art security system. Their expertise is helping build a reliable and secure foundation behind the scenes that will support the facility for years to come.

To everyone who has offered advice, shared our posts, or simply stopped by with words of encouragement—thank you. Every hour, every dollar, every conversation, and every act of support has helped move this dream one step closer to becoming reality.

We’re not just renovating a racetrack. We’re bringing back a place where families will make memories, lifelong friendships will be formed, young drivers will chase their dreams, and racers from across the region will once again call home.

We still have a lot of work to do, but we’re more motivated than ever, and we can’t wait to continue sharing the progress with all of you.

Thank you for believing in this project and for believing in High Banks Speedway at Beacon Hill.

We’ll see you at the track May 2027!
