We will be gathering signatures for our petition until this Sunday, June 14th! If you'd like to stop by and sign, we will have people on grounds weekdays, 9 AM - 5 PM, and weekends, 10 AM - 2 PM.

We will also be joining The Food Truck Union this Friday from 11:20 AM to 1:30 PM. We're so grateful for them and their support. Please stop by Mineral Palace Park for lunch and to sign our petition. Zoo staff will be located at the hot pink table with the white tent!

To say we have been humbled by the community support and outreach is an understatement. Thank you to everyone who has signed, provided thoughtful feedback, and shared our messages with their friends and family. We wouldn't be able to do this without you!

We are excited to announce that both Joy and Mr. Darcy, our two new red pandas, have been let out onto exhibit! Joy was the first to explore her new space by climbing, sniffing, and tasting—a full tactile experience. Mr. Darcy chose to stay inside, but we're happy to say both will now have full access to the exhibit.

Be sure to stop by the zoo and say hi to our two new friends!

Today is , and besides being spicy kitties, both Khari and Tai Chi are sure to give you reasons not to hug.

Khari, seen here rolling around looking adorable, is actually exhibiting a natural behaviour of masking his scent with…p**p! Specifically zebra p**p gathered from our very own zebras here on the grounds. Lions do this naturally to hide their scent from prey. So yeah, it is safe to say we'll be skipping the hug.

Tai Chi, shown in the video searching for food through repurposed firehose, is mostly just judgey. And don't you want your hugs to be reciprocated?

Not so much goodbye, but see you later.

We recently transferred some of our animals to other AZA facilities, and you may have noticed their absences on exhibit. Both Momo, the red panda, and Cleo, the African grey crowned crane, have been transferred to other AZA facilities on SSP breeding recommendations. While it is always difficult to say goodbye, we are grateful knowing that these decisions are made for the betterment of the species.

But with goodbyes come hellos. Though they are still in quarantine, we wanted to share a couple new arrivals to the zoo! Say hello to Mr. Darcy and Joy, who will be located in Momo's former exhibit once they clear quarantine. They are both young, under a year old—the male is named Mr. Darcy; he has more red on his face, and the female is a little bigger, fluffier, and has a whiter face. Keepers have reported that they are both doing well adjusting to their new environment and are very curious pandas with a love for fruit! Stay tuned for updates as we wait for them to arrive on exhibit!

It's ! To celebrate the occasion, our otter keepers gave Thomas and Freyja some lobster tail that they've been saving for a day like today. You can see them diving and chasing around their pool for in this video. Or maybe they were just showing off for the camera?

Otters aren't just our adorable, semi-aquatic friends; they're necessary in their ecosystems. River otters are what are referred to as an indicator species, meaning if they are found in water sources—rivers, streams, marshes, ponds, lakes, etc.—it's an indication of good water quality. Just another reason to help keep our waters clean!
