For immediate release:
It is with tremendous sorrow that I announce the close of the Damon Runyon Theater Company. After 18 years, the company simply cannot support itself. While the Chief Theater was an ideal venue, the cost to operate such a location has proven to be too substantial. This decision is the ultimate result of a lack of community support as well as waning support from existing company members. The combination of rapidly increasing operating expenses and sporadic attendance at recent productions led the Board of Directors to make the choice to disband the company. This was among the most difficult choices we have had to make. Perhaps at some point in the future we may be able to restore the company in some sense. Until then, I urge you to support the arts in our community. Create a culture that loves and supports the theater so that one day we can build what this company was always meant to be.
