Some legacies are not left behind… they are carried forward with every brushstroke. ❤️

My dad, Bill Rabbit, poured his spirit, stories, and vision into his art. After his passing, I made a promise to continue creating, honoring the path he paved while finding my own voice along the way. Every painting holds a piece of our journey together — a legacy rooted in culture, family, resilience, and love.

His art opened doors, inspired generations, and reminded people of the beauty and strength of Native storytelling. Today, I continue that mission with gratitude, carrying forward not only his name, but the heART behind it.

I thought, being the first day of spring, I would share an original piece my dad did for the first Art Under the Oaks show at the Five Civilized Tribes Museum in Muskogee years ago, along with a little history. There are 4 artists in this piece he depicted doing the first show out on the lawn in front of the museum under the big oak tree, which still stands. He came up with the name for the show and created this original for the first poster; the show still happens every spring. I confirmed the story with my mom, who was right by his side during the shows. It is a wonderful piece of history, and I am blessed to own the original.
Can you name any of the artists in this piece? Happy spring equinox 💚

Late post, Mrs. Bergmans 3rd Grade Living Museum Famous Oklahomans project in Ft Gibson. Wren, a talented young artist who enjoys drawing, selected me as her living museum person. I surprised her as she was unaware of my attendance. She greeted me with the biggest smile and hug as I pushed her play button on her sign. It was impressive to witness these students recite their knowledge about the person they were impersonating. This project proved to be highly informative and engaging for these students. Way to go Wren and Mrs Bergman!
