We want to extend our thanks and love to all of the dance parents and dancers we got to know over the 11 years we danced together. Though Creative Dance and Movement closed permanently in 2019, it brings us joy to stay in touch with the dance parents and dancers we met over the years. What we worked to provide our dancers, you may remember was a safe place where young people learned the art of dan

ce and learn creative possibilities through dance. While being a structured program, we worked hard to validate each child's personality and personal style of movement, and to encourage freedom of expression. With imaginations fully engaged, preschoolers used scarves, bean bags, ribbons and more while learning dance elements and movement fundamentals. Children also worked on body control, listening skills, balance and coordination. We also worked on the development of locomotor skills (skipping, leaping, jumping, etc.). As dancers grew with us, they often moved on toCreative Ballet, Creative Modern, Tap and Jazz dance classes. We hope we achieved our goal at every age, toddler through teen, to enhance each young dancer's enthusiasm for dance, to encourage creativity, and to increase self-confidence and to honor the "whole" child: his or her individuality, ideas, and movement choices, cognitive, social and emotional development.

Our Story

We strive to create a unique home for dance in Monterey County, devoid of competition, where young people can learn the art of dance and learn creative possibilities through dance. We work with children of all ages and our preschool dance program is particularly popular. While being a structured program, we work hard to validate each child's personality and personal style of movement, and to encourage freedom of expression. With imaginations fully engaged, preschoolers use scarves, bean bags, ribbons and more as they are introduced to dance elements and movement fundamentals. Children also work on body control, listening skills, balance and coordination, and on development of locomotor skills (skipping, leaping, jumping, etc.). As dancers grow, they can continue learning dance and creativity skills through Creative Ballet, Creative Modern and other fun dance classes. Our goal at every age, toddler through teen, is to enhance each young dancer's enthusiasm for dance, to encourage creativity, and to increase self-confidence. At Creative Dance and Movement, all of our dancers are part of the learning and creative process. Our goal is to honor the "whole" child: his or her individuality, ideas, and movement choices, as well as cognitive, social and emotional development.
