Peteetneet Museum has been part the Payson community for many years. Our daughter even had her wedding reception there. It is a place filled with history, gatherings, art, music, and community memories.

In 2021, I had the opportunity to serve the arts community there as a volunteer Art Director and President of the Arts Council, helping organize exhibits and events for local artists. After 3½ years, I stepped down from that role to focus more on my own artwork and family life, but I stayed on to help coordinate the Payson Plein Air Paint Out & Exhibition.

This will be my third year organizing the event, and I’m excited to see artists painting throughout Payson and the surrounding areas again this June.

The Payson Plein Air Paint Out will take place June 8–13, 2026, with the reception and awards ceremony on June 13 at Peteetneet Museum. The exhibition will remain on display through August 6.

Please come paint beautiful Payson and celebrate with us at the award ceremony on June 13 starting at 6:30 PM.

Over the past few months, I’ve been working on a small series of three paintings for Remember the Ladies—each centered on the idea of remembrance.

These women are not tied to one time or place, but reflect something enduring: the act of holding on to what matters. Through symbols of peace, growth, and return, each piece considers how remembrance shapes who we are and how we move forward.

This body of work has taken time—layers of painting, reworking, and quiet reflection in the studio. I’m grateful to now share them together.

Be Not Afraid

In the fourth watch of the night—the darkest hours before dawn—Christ came to His disciples as they struggled against a relentless storm. Exhausted and afraid, they believed they were alone, yet He was already on His way to them, walking across the troubled sea.

This moment reflects the essence of grace: divine help reaching us when our own strength is no longer enough. Christ comes to us in our storms, offering peace and the assurance that we are never alone.

In this painting, the mast of the ship is shaped like a cross, foreshadowing how Christ will ultimately save each of us. The waves retreat at the touch of His feet, symbolizing His mastery over the elements and His power to still the chaos around us.

The storm represents the trials of life—sometimes long and exhausting, leaving us weary physically, mentally, and spiritually. Yet even in our darkest nights, Christ is with us. He knows our suffering intimately because He has borne it Himself.

He comes to us gently, saying:
“Be of good cheer: it is I; be not afraid.”
— Mark 6:50

I’m grateful to have Legacy of Light and Love included in the International Art Competition at the Church History Museum.

The exhibition closes January 3, and I’m deeply thankful for the opportunity to be part of such a meaningful show, as well as for everyone who has taken time to visit, reflect, and support the work.

If you’re visiting Salt Lake City to see Christmas lights or attend other seasonal events, I hope you’ll consider taking a little time to stop by the museum.

I’m honored to have three pieces included in God’s Grace, a beautiful Christmas exhibition at JKR Gallery.

Opening Reception: December 5th, 6–9 pm
On View: December 5–27
Location: 1675 N Freedom Blvd Suite 6B, Provo, UT

What does God’s grace mean to me?

Grace is the divine gift of help we could never earn on our own. It is God stepping into our storms, our silence, our questions, and our need for reassurance. It is His love made visible through the life, the light, and the saving power of His Son.

Each of the pieces in this show is, for me, a small study in that grace:

1. “Mary and the Lamb”
The source of all grace begins here—in a mother’s arms, in the humble beginnings of the One who would descend below all things to lift us above all things. This piece is a meditation on peace, protection, and love made flesh. The lamb symbolizes innocence, sacrifice, and His earthly mission.

2. “Walking on the Water”
The moment Christ turns toward us in the storm. His grace is not abstract; it is personal. He comes to us. He walks the distance. He meets us where we are.

3. “Moonlit Waters”
A reminder that even in the heaviest clouds, light still breaks through. God’s grace reaches us quiet times—often before we even recognize we’ve been carried.

Grace is God’s love reaching into the daily moments of our lives.
