Rainbow pins are something I’ve made for years and I love to make them. In a very “Mister Rogers” fashion, I think of the people who wear them as I paint each one. From teachers, club members, coaches, to doctors and students. People who have lost a loved one. People who are angry or struggling.
I live in Utah where the governor has tried to cater to his base by declaring June “fidelity month” - a direct rebuke and jab toward an already struggling lgbtq community. I am sadly unsurprised by the betrayal. Leadership like this will attack real families and then claim that their bigoted beliefs are being persecuted. The playbook just keeps getting played out, over and over again.
It’s my privilege as an ally to fight back. To educate, to speak out. Risking all my social connections to criticize the most powerful players.
If this message doesn’t jive with you, please take your prejudice elsewhere. To those who continue standing up for human rights, thank you.
