The Del Deo Foundation for the Arts announces new 2026 Fellowships for our Creative Lifestyle Residencies in Tuscany:

Creative Exploration Fellowship - for professional artists and art enthusiasts $2000
Cultural Heritage Fellowship - for professionals in other creative disciplines (ie. architects, writers, curators, art historians, musicians and related arts) $1500
Patronage Fellowship Award - for recognition of fine art collectors and patrons $1000

All that is left is the painting “Old Trap Shed.” Documenting the fight to save the West End Cold Storage Trap Shed, and create a museum for the town lead by Josephine and Salvatore Del Deo with George Bryant. Wonderful rediscovery by Ben Kettlewell posted to Provincetown Diaspora.

With him are his wife, Josephine, who was instrumental in getting the shed nominated to the National Register of Historic Places, and George Bryant, who made several calls to federal officials in Washington in an attempt to preserve the structure. Behind them are the remains of the shed.

Hosted within a seventeen-hectare historic estate overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea,
this seven-day program is conceived as a residency rather than a course, emphasizing sustained engagement with material, process, and place.

Participants work directly in wax, following methodologies employed by Italian masters since the Renaissance, within the private atelier of sculptor Romolo Del Deo.
Enrollment is intentionally limited to six participants, in keeping with the scale and spirit of the atelier.

As the year comes to a close, the Del Deo Foundation thanks our community for your continued interest, support, and engagement. We are deeply grateful for the visits, conversations, and shared belief in the value of art, place, and preservation.

This year, together, we lifted up and protected Provincetown’s historic dune shack community, reaching an agreement with the Cape Cod National Seashore to restore Frenchie’s dune shack now underway. We gave back by supporting the Provincetown Public Art Foundation and West End Racing Children’s Community Sailing. We preserved land through our partnership with the Provincetown Conservation Trust, establishing the Josephine Del Deo Memorial Woodlands. We grew by expanding Studio Romolo to Italy, opening Villa Casone d’Arte in Tuscany.
We persevered by preparing a 2026 Boston exhibition of Salvatore Del Deo’s magnum opus, The Martyrdom of St. Anthony, at LaMontagne Gallery (SOWA).
And we innovated—advancing Oltre il Muro (Beyond the Wall), a major public sculpture installation by Romolo Del Deo in Camaiore, Italy.

Thank you for being part of a year defined by care, continuity, and creative expansion.

One more washed ashore, before the season ends... See, “Derelict,” the latest addition to the benefit exhibition installation of paintings by Salvatore Del Deo at Sal’s Place before the restaurant closes for the season on Oct 11.

Proceeds from sales of the paintings go to benefit the West End Racing Children’s Community Sailing program and the Provincetown Public Art Foundation, with support from the Del Deo Foundation for the Arts, Sal’s Place Restaurant and LaMontagne Gallery. There’s still time to grab one more dinner at Sal’s and revisit the historic exhibition.

Today Oct 4th, 2025, Josephine Del Deo would be 100 years old. And while it is nine years since she passed, her voice still stirs us to action, her vision and her conscience still guide us.

She lives on in her writings, the fruits of her activism and in the paintings of her husband, Salvatore who lovingly captured their life together over 65 years of marriage..

Back by popular demand: "Everything Moves" a documentary film that tells the story of renowned Provincetown painter Salvatore Del Deo as he reflects on his life, art, and the enduring bond he shared with his late wife, Josephine. Together, they played a pivotal role in preserving the town's iconic dunes, protecting them from the threat of developers. As Provincetown evolves, these dunes-long a source of inspiration for artists, writers, and musicians-remain a symbol of the creative spirit they both cherished. Through Salvatore's journey, the story explores the passage of time in a changing town, celebrating the legacy of love, art, and preservation in a place rich with history.

After experiencing an evening of Polina Osetinskaya’s profound capacity to combine explosive technical prowess with sonorous poetic interpretation, culminating in a literally breathtaking distillation of the entire symphonic orchestration of Tchaikovsky’s 6th Symphony Pathétique, transposed into solo pianoforte, and once the swirling clouds of note cascades had subsided, and normal breathing was once again possible, it was obvious there was a new verb, to have been Osetinskaya’d.

Which will be defined as being transported to a place where the memory and the moment of hearing this artist play causes you to seek out and re-listen to every recording you can find as you yearn for that one thing recordings cannot give you, the experience of being transported by hearing the artist perform in person with such incredible skill and passion that you can think of nothing else.

We had the rare and remarkable opportunity to hear Polina Osetinskaya perform here on Cape Cod, sponsored by the Church of the Transfiguration who also sponsored the monumental Doors of Creation by Romolo Del Deo as the portal to their cathedral. It was an honor to be in the audience and we are deeply grateful as ever to their insight and patronage.

Sal’s is all about Sails & Art

This summer, the artwork of Salvatore Del Deo returns to the walls of Sal’s Place to support two great causes, The West End Racing Children’s Community Sailing Club and the Provincetown Public Art Foundation.

Many of the paintings on exhibit were painted at Sal’s Place or nearby over the years.

The Del Deo Foundation, Sal’s Place Restaurant, and the LaMontagne Gallery are teaming up to donate proceeds from the purchase of the paintings on exhibit at Sal’s Place to benefit both of these important community non-profits.
