The William-Scott Gallery represents a diverse group of emerging and established contemporary artists from Provincetown and beyond, working in a variety of media and subject matter. Featuring painting, photography, sculpture and works on paper, the William-Scott Gallery strives to exhibit work that displays expertise, sensitivity, and imagination, as it embraces aesthetic beauty, artistic integrity, and themes relevant to our lives. Our Provincetown location opened in 1995, and continues to be an anchor of the East End Gallery District.

Dylan McKnight is a New England-based artist recognized for his impressionistic paintings that illuminate the stories of the region’s landscapes and working communities. Trained in drawing, oil painting, printmaking, and sculpture, he earned his BFA in Painting from the Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts.

Michael Costello - Flora, Fauna and Flesh On view through September 2, 2026

“Flora, Fauna and Flesh consist of a series of figurative canvases and still life drawings.These works celebrate the Proustian Moment, i.e. a vivid recollection of past events through sensory stimulation. 

Still life is the tradition of painting inanimate objects that delight the eye. The portrayal of everyday objects in this case, products of the mid century which we may fail to notice, conjure up the unconscious memory of a unique experience, time and place. 

The figures in this series recall iconographic paintings in western art, recreated in my own 21st century language… These quote works such as Ingres’ “Grand Odilesque” and DaVinci’s “La Belle Ferroniere,” while including mirrors as a nonverbal signature in much the same way as Van Eyke’s “Arnolfini Marriage.”

Glenn Diadone presents a new series of constructed photographic works that draw on the visual language of mid-century modern design and 1960s Americana. Departing from the artist’s earlier focus on landscape photography, these layered compositions explore broader cultural themes through imagery that is at once familiar, surreal, and unsettling.

Paul Wirhun - Water, Water Everywhere On view through August 19, 2026.

Since childhood, Wirhun has practiced pysanky, the traditional Ukrainian art of eggshell writing, learned from his mother — a lifelong foundation that continues to shape his work today. Building on this heritage, he has expanded the ancient craft through innovative dyeing, brushwork, and etching techniques, developing a visual language uniquely his own on the eggshell’s organic form. His process also draws on the studio practice of reconstructing broken eggshell fragments into new compositions, transforming discarded material into new imagery and worldviews.

Frederick Brosen - New Watercolors on view through August 19, 2026

For this exhibition, Brosen turns his eye to Provincetown and the outer Cape, rendering the town’s harbor, dunes, and weathered streets with the same architectural precision and quiet, luminous light that define his celebrated New York cityscapes. Featured works include Dyer Street, Provincetown, The Flats, P’town, East End Cottage/Snail Road, and East End Dusk, among others.

A native New Yorker, Frederick Brosen began his studies at City College of New York, graduating in 1976. He studied art at the Art Students League and at Pratt Institute, receiving his MFA from Pratt in 1979.

Brosen has been recognized with a Silver Medal of Honor by the Royal Society of Arts & Letters in London and a Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant. Watercolors by Frederick Brosen have been acquired by the New York Historical Society, the Knoxville Museum of Art, The Museum of the City of New York, Frye Art Museum, Seattle and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
