AAPI History Museum

We cannot be there for every difficult moment our children face, but we can help prepare them—with confidence, a voice of their own, and teachers who take their ideas seriously. Our free art and writing classes offer young people ages 12–18 the opportunity to learn from two accomplished instructors who connected with our students during our summer pilot program. As students prepare for our national AAPI Youth Art and Writing Competition, our promise is clear: we will keep our standards high, and we will help equip them to meet those standards.

Apply by October 3. Art begins October 3; writing begins October 12. Virtual classes.

We are excited to announce a new partnership between the AAPI History Museum and The Feinstein Foundation, supported by a $10,000 grant.

Through this partnership, Feinstein Leadership Schools will have the opportunity to host the AAPI Mobile History Museum at no cost, bringing Asian American and Pacific Islander history directly to students in their own school communities.

Feinstein Jr. Scholars and their guardians will also receive complimentary admission to the AAPI History Museum in Providence, creating additional opportunities for students and families to explore AAPI history, stories, and experiences together.
At the heart of this partnership is a shared commitment to history, kindness, empathy, service, community, and cross-cultural understanding.

We are deeply grateful to The Feinstein Foundation for its generous support and for partnering with us to help make AAPI history more accessible to young people, families, and school communities throughout Rhode Island and beyond.

We look forward to all that this partnership will make possible in the year ahead!

Launched on June 12, 2026 — the 59th anniversary of Loving v. Virginia — this exhibit explores mixed-race and multicultural identity, belonging, family, and history through AAPI stories and lived experience.

Visitors have called the exhibit “historic,” “amazing,” and “incredible.”

Come experience it for yourself and reflect on what it means to belong, to carry more than one heritage, and to see these stories represented in a museum space.

We were honored to welcome Congressman Gabe Amo to the AAPI History Museum. We had a meaningful conversation about the importance of preserving, teaching, and making visible the histories that have too often been left out of public memory.

The timing felt especially meaningful. Rep. Judy Chu has introduced a congressional resolution seeking to recognize the 1885 Rock Springs Chinese Massacre, one of the deadliest acts of anti-Chinese violence in U.S. history.

This is why museums like ours matter. AAPI history is American history. It includes stories of labor, migration, exclusion, violence, resilience, and the ongoing work of remembrance.

We are grateful for Congressman Amo’s visit, his thoughtful engagement, and his personal donation in support of our work. We also appreciate Rep. Judy Chu’s leadership in helping bring long-erased AAPI history into public memory.

AAPI Heritage Month is not over — and neither is the work.

We are grateful that GBH’s Under the Radar featured the AAPI History Museum in a thoughtful article and podcast conversation with Callie Crossley and Dr. Jason Chang of the University of Connecticut.

Dr. Chang’s words remind us why this work matters: “A community can disappear in two generations.”

The AAPI History Museum exists to preserve, teach, and share the stories that have too often been overlooked — stories of migration, identity, activism, solidarity, belonging, and hope.

Please read the GBH feature, listen to the podcast, and share it with your network.

The stories we tell shape how we understand our past and who we become next.

As Dr. Diego Javier Luis reminds us, representation in history isn’t optional, it’s foundational.

The AAPI History Museum is doing exactly that. Elevating voices that have too often been overlooked and ensuring AAPI experiences are recognized as essential to the American story.

This moment isn’t just about a museum. It’s about shifting narratives, expanding understanding, and creating space for future generations to see themselves reflected with dignity and truth.

As the museum expands nationally, it signals something bigger. A commitment to visibility, education, and cultural impact that reaches far beyond one state.
