“In 2025, I had the valuable opportunity to study ceramics as an exchange student at Ewha Womans University in Korea. Living and learning in Korea allowed me to develop a deeper understanding of Korean history, contemporary culture, ceramics, and everyday life.
I especially enjoyed traveling beyond Seoul to various regions, including Jeonju, Mokpo, and Gwangju, where I was able to learn about the unique histories and cultures of each area and experience a variety of regional foods, such as Jeonju bibimbap. Among these places, Mudeungsan National Park was particularly memorable. The beautiful mountain scenery and atmosphere of the place were so striking that they were difficult to fully capture through either photographs or words.
These experiences outside of the classroom raised new questions about my work and the way I view the world around me. Now that I have returned from my time in Korea, I feel more confident in my work and feel that I have become more grounded in my curiosity about the world and in my understanding of myself as a person.”
Thank you so much RISD Global for this opportunity.
