WINNING STARTS AT HOME⁠:

On our Boston stop of WINNING STARTS AT HOME, we linked with June Freedom, a Cape Verdean-American singer and songwriter who blends contemporary sounds from across the world with traditional Cape Verdean music.

Since releasing his debut album, Anchor Baby, in 2021, June Freedom has become the most-streamed artist of Cape Verdean descent, toured all over the world, and most recently won a CVMA for Album of the Year for his latest release, Casa Mira Mar.

On the heels of Cape Verde making history in the last two weeks, we talk with June Freedom about how his time spent between the island of Fogo and Boston shaped him, his influences as a musician, and reflect on what a win feels like on his journey.

One of our favorite DAY TRILL memories to date was playing June pulling up to India Point Park and letting YSL ring off with him partying on stage.

On our Philly stop of WINNING STARTS AT HOME, we linked with DJ NA$H, a Philadelphia-born DJ and cultural curator who is known for blending Afrobeats, Dancehall, Soca, Amapiano, R&B, and Hip-Hop.

She's the founder of Interna$hional Bounce, a party series based in Philly, and the person behind Sweet 45, an all-ages vinyl listening room and ice cream shop.

With her Juneteenth festival approaching this weekend and being a past DAY TRILL headliner, we linked with DJ Na$h to talk about how Philly shaped her, her work in music and business, and reflected on her most recent wins.

Every Saturday night for 11 years straight, DJ Kabeza was the dj + promoter at what used to be The Roxy in Downtown Providence for New England's most prominent all-Latin music night.

DJ Kabeza is a legendary and prominent figure within New England's Latin community, from djing nights at Roxy's Latin Saturdays in the 2000s, producing events with artists such as Plan B and Arcangel, as well as being on the region's Latin radio stations.
