BEYOND THE PODIUM | Meet Our Artistic Director
You know her as the person on the podium, but how well do you know Christine Noel?
As we launch our new Beyond the Podium series, we're sharing a few things you might not know about the people who make up the Providence Singers, and we're starting with the conductor!
1. She knows how to throw a punch. Christine recently earned her martial arts Apprentice Black Belt and is now training for her Certified Black Belt.
2. She's a terrible cook. Despite her best efforts, Christine has never quite mastered the culinary arts. Apparently, her creativity doesn't extend to the kitchen.
3. She's an Ocean Stater who hates going to the beach. Give her the mountains any day. In fact, she dreams of someday living in a little village in the Austrian or Swiss Alps.
4. She has a passion for languages.
Christine speaks Italian and has studied French, Spanish, German, and Hungarian.
5. Concert preparation involves more than studying scores. Before every concert week or the start of a new rehearsal cycle, Christine goes into full nesting mode: cleaning, purging, and organizing her house. Apparently, bringing order to the music requires bringing order to everything else first.
