May is Preservation Month, and we're celebrating the historic places that matter to our community. The Crook County Historical Society was founded in 1969. In 1971, Alta Bowman and her daughters donated the Bowman Building for use as a museum. The Museum is housed in the former Crook County Bank building, constructed in 1910 using locally quarried stone. The building retains original features like bronze teller cages, marble countertops, and mahogany paneling.
