Joining this movement, enthralling hearts with Odissi, Guru Bani Ray...

Bani Ray- Odissi

Bani studied Odissi dance under some of the form's most revered gurus, such as Shri Valmiki Banerjee, Guru Durga Charan Ranbir and the late Guru Shri Nath Raut.

As a joint director from (1994-1998) of the “Nehru Institute of Odissi Research & Training” in

Delhi, India, she has organized international seminars, symposia and training programs for

aspiring young dancers. She has been an ICCR (Indian Council for Cultural Relations) Panel Artist and a New Jersey Arts Council Panel Artist. Over the last decade, Bani has periodically been a presenter and guest presenter of a Master Class in Dance Appreciation at Raritan Valley Community College, University of Massachusetts, Dance Theater of Harlem, Hunter College of New York, and Rutgers University of NJ.

Igniting the souls of dancers and others alike with the beats of the Tabla, Shri Partha Karmkar....
Partha Karmkar started learning Tabla when he was in ninth standard, initiated into the art through Guru Shri Suprobhat Mandal. He then continued learning the art form from Pt Kajal Guha for many years until he passed away three years ago. Pandit Kajal Guha belonged to both the Lucknow gharana and the Banaras gharana of Tabla playing. After moving to the United States, Partha has been learning Tabla from the legendary maestro Padmashree Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri who is the current torch bearer of the Lucknow Gharana.

Moving hearts through the tunes and notes of the flute, Shri Ravishankar Srinivasa.......
Ravishankar started learning Flute from an age of 7 from Guru Smt. N.Kesi, disciple of T.R.Mahalingam (Flute Mali). As a young child artiste, Ravishankar has given many public performances in AIR and Doordarshan, Chennai. He also became part of the Sundaram Bhajan Group of Sri Sathya Sai Organization at later stages of school. In college, he was part of the Light Music group as well. This way, he was able to explore different styles of playing. Ravishankar has also been lucky to have performed in a few percussion ensembles with Guru Sri Nandakumar including a performance at Cleveland Thyagaraja Aradhana.

Born into a family that is culturally educated, socially active, and highly appreciative of the fine arts, Smt Usha was introduced to art at an early age. Starting with classical Carnatic music, she was soon immersed into all that defines shringar rasa – dressing and preparing the mind, body and soul for appropriate presentation to the right audiences. Her learning started under the able guidance of Smt Kurella Ramaratnam, Smt Pappu Padmavathi, Sri Kappaganthula S***a Rao, Smt Sistla Vasundhara Devi, and she is currently receiving advanced guidance from Smt Sarada G Subramaniam
A loving and compassionate teacher, she is very sensitive to the pressures of modern living and is always willing to accommodate today's schedules.

Her love of music led her to establishing her music school Swara Raga Sudha Kala Academy in 2003 in NJ. Here, she teaches classical music to various age groups from 4 years to adults. Under the auspices of the school’s banner, she organizes and conducts various cultural events. Usha and students of Swara Raaga Sudha Kala Academy perform at various events in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvannia including Trimurty Day Sri Venkateswara temple, Bridgewater, Annamacharya Jayanti celebrations conducted by Silicon Andhra, Brahmotsavam at the Venkateswara temple, Sangeetha Seva at Sri Ranganatha temple, Pomona, New York, Krishna Vrundavana, events like Ramanavami, Ganesh Chathurthi, Navaratri, Deepavali celebrations and more at various temples in the Tristate area. She conducts Summer workshops on Carnatic and light music every year to help advance her students.

Bringing joy and rhythm, inspiring through the beats of the Mridangam, Sanjay Natesan...
Sanjay Natesan is currently under the tutelage of Kalaimamani Sri. Tiruvarur Vaidyanathan. Sanjay has performed in several music and dance ensembles, arangetram recitals, and frequently accompanys musicians from around the world. Sanjay has won many competitions including 1st place in the Senior Percussion Competition organized by CMANA in 2019. He also performs regularly for the Chennai December Music Season. Sanjay is the recipient of the 2019 Dutchess County Executive Arts Award for “The Student with Exceptional Promise in the Arts”. In addition to Mridangam, he is trained in Carnatic Vocal, Carnatic Flute, and other Indian percussion instruments such as Kanjira and Tabla. Sanjay is a rising Junior at Columbia University and is pursuing a degree in computer science and economics.
