Well all I can say is.....It's about time!!!

I have been planning this trip for quite awhile now and it wll start tomorrow morning. After dealing with a lawsuit I filed against my previous employer two plus years ago. I have won and it's time to live life and get back to my normal. I will embark on a trip that will allow me to meet up with a bunch of past and present callmakers in Wisconsin, Illinois, Kentucky and Arkansas. Plus I will be meeting with other folks involved in the goose calling world as well for some research info for the upcoming book I am co-authoring with Wayne Dibbley.
My main goals are to meet these gentleman that I have friended and we've shared our stories back and forth. I'm the kind that if I say I'm coming to visit that I stick to my word. I have quite an itinerary so if you want me to stop and listen to a story about a callmaker or a contest please feel free to message myself or Wayne Dibbley. I will do my darndest to make it happen.
I am planning a two week adventure and plan on posting my daily activities and travels. Feel free to comment and reach out!!

Another goose flute i spun up this morning. This is a quilted/curly Maple that came from Mike Craig and it didn't disappoint. Accents are brass and black with tan acrylic tips from Derek Jackson. Final accent is the etched brass band from Ziegler Laser Worx LLC.
Sycamore Sauce on the finish from Christopher Corso.

This call is available if interested after gluing and tuning.

Here's a goose flute I just turned and polished up for a customer. This is Black and tan acrylic rod stock from Derek Jackson with a custom lasered band from Ziegler Laser Worx LLC . Time to glue and gut and its ready to go to it's new home.

Just received some pretty cool calls and callmaker memorabilia from my good friend Ted Huwer. Standouts in the crowd are the Gary McCree modified A-50 and the Tim Grounds embroidered fleece vest. Other items are a Big River maple duck call and a couple Green Head calls. Couple instructional 45 records and Herters Calling manuals. Plus a bonus Ducks at a Distance booklet.

Here's a couple more call displays I put together. The first three call holder is for Ted Huwer for some of his prized Ken Martin calls. This display was made from some black ash with a bit of burl and Maple burl pegs. The second is a display requested by Carlton Moon to hold a bunch of strikers and a few pot calls and trumpets. The wood for the base of this one was a really nice Quilted maple from Tim Eastlick .

Just wrapped up these four amazing Long Reed Goose calls for a customer. These are all Maple Burl that I received from Tim Eastlick. All these blanks were stabilized by Arin Way and all the etched brass bands were done by Tim at Ziegler Laser Worx LLC . Sycamore Sauce for the finish from Christopher James Corso.

Just look at that coloration and grain!!

Here's a couple bucks grunts just wrapped up. One is a Buckeye Burl with red resin that is for a customer and the other is a Yellow Cedar Burl with some resin. Both blanks stabilized and cast by Arin Way with the etched brass bands coming from Tim at Ziegler Laser Worx LLC .

Some years back I was turning some flute prototypes for a customer that wanted a specific look. The one pictured was one of those I did but never finished it. Fast forward some years now I decided to finish it up.
There's just something about the sound of a Walnut call and the true vintage look. This one I soaked in Sycamore Sauce from Christopher James Corso and added a laser etched band from Ziegler Laser Worx LLC . To add to the mystique I decided to use some original guts from the late Jack Burns of Victoria Honker fame. Love blending the old components with the new ones.

So had a conversation with a good customer of mine Rob Cordonier today and he was telling me how he was inspired by the Olt D-2 duck call striker I made for Jerry Peebles. Rob then asked or challenged me to see if I could make a striker with a built in mini trumpet that works. Challenge accepted and here's the first prototype.

Stabilized and spalted Maple burl from Tim Eastlick with an acrylic mouthpiece. It actually has great sound and I plan on tweeking the internals a little to bring the volume down a little. All in all it sounds pretty good!! Plus the striker is pretty well balanced.
