First things first, I would like to introduce what Henna is. Henna (or Mehndi) is traditionally from the middle east/India dating back over 5,000 years! It is most often used for special occasions like weddings and celebrations.
The actual paste is made from crushed up leaves from the henna plant. This fine powder is mixed with essential oils, sugar, and water or lemon juice. The cones used to "draw" are hand rolled and have a super fine pointed tip so the designs can be applied precisely and delicately.
The paste sits on the skin for as long as possible to stain the skin, so once the paste is removed you're left with a stained design that starts out orange, then gradually darkens to a reddish brown. These designs typically last at least 1 week, sometimes up to 2 depending on the location and aftercare.
They are safe and organic (however allergic reactions are always a possibility with essential oil or citrus). However, real henna paste is natural and actually perishable, so if it is on a shelf for sale (such as the dreaded black henna) it is usually not safe and definitely not recommended for use on skin, as it can cause chemical burns, scarring, and even liver damage 😳. Rest assured that the henna powder/products I use is from a credible source and mixed by me.
Hope this helps clear up any questions and curiosity!
