Tonight sitting here at the Franklin County Fair-Preston, Idaho, it’s pretty dang quiet.
No kids running around laughing, no cows bawling, pigs squealing or horses making noise in the barns. No announcers over the speakers, no music playing, no smell of fresh shavings and hay, and definitely no smell of all that great fair food.
Just like that, another Franklin County Fair has come and gone.
I just want to say a huge THANK YOU.
First off, to my Fair Board. I don’t think people realize the amount of time and work that goes into putting this week together. There are a lot of long days, late nights, phone calls and things that happen behind the scenes. Thank you for the time, dedication and commitment you give to this fair. I truly appreciate each and every one of you.
Thank you to all the kids and families who brought animals to show, horses to compete on and projects to display. Thank you to everyone who wrestled pigs, rode bulls, brought trucks and tractors to pull, worked a booth, sold some amazing food, volunteered or just came down and enjoyed the fair.
Thank you to our County Commissioners, county employees, road department, landfill crew, local businesses and sponsors, and everyone who donated money, materials, equipment or time to help us keep improving the fairgrounds. There are way too many people to name, but please know I appreciate every one of you.
The Franklin County Fair has a pretty special place in my heart, and a big reason for that is the people. The people I get to work with, the kids we get to watch, and this community that continues to show up and support the fair year after year.
So tonight, sitting here in the quiet, I’m just thankful. Thank you to everyone who had a part in making this fair what it was.
And somehow I’m already thinking about what we can do better and what we can add for 2027.
Thank you, Franklin County. I can’t wait to see everyone back here the third week of August 2027.
Until then… thank you for one heck of a fair!
