New Artist at Black Arrow: Suzy Almblade Townsend

We’re excited to welcome Arizona watercolor artist Suzy Almblade Townsend to Black Arrow.

Suzy’s work captures the quiet beauty of the Southwest — glowing desert rock formations, snowy forest paths, winter creeks, and the soft light that makes Arizona feel so alive.

What makes these pieces especially unique?
They are watercolors displayed without glass.

Suzy has spent years perfecting a process where each painting is mounted to board, sealed against water damage, and protected from UV exposure — allowing the artwork to be seen clearly, without glare or the weight of glass.

As Suzy describes watercolor:

“It’s like a cat, you can coax it but you can’t control it. The water is your partner in the painting process.”

Her pieces are now available at Black Arrow Native American Jewelry & Art in downtown Prescott.

This Confetti Chrysocolla pendant by Artie Yellowhorse has rich purple tones, natural flecks of matrix, and a classic sterling silver rope detail that gives it just the right Southwestern presence.

Artie Yellowhorse is a third-generation Navajo jewelry artist from the Towering House Clan. Jewelry making runs deep in her family — her grandfather and father were silversmiths, and today Artie continues that tradition with her daughters, Desiree and Lei Lani, who are also part of the Yellowhorse Jewelry story.

Her work is known for high-quality stones, distinctive silverwork, and designs that feel both contemporary and rooted in tradition.

This Memorial Day, we pause to remember those who gave their lives in service to our country.

With deep respect, we also honor the legacy of Native American servicemen, including the Navajo Code Talkers, whose courage and sacrifice remain part of America’s story.
