The membership of Prescott Frontier DaysÂź, Inc., is filled with honorable, humble people who consistently share the gifts of their time, knowledge,
and skills with the Worldâs Oldest RodeoÂź. Rodeo member and director Steve Myers is one of those generous souls and was recently named a
recipient of the John Justin Standard of the West Award, also known as the Justin Boot Award.
This prestigious honor is a âspecial award that recognizes a committee member in good standing whose participation benefits Prescott Frontier
Days, Inc. throughout the year in a manner that exceeds the expectations for the member.â Myers was nominated by a PFD member; the nomination
was approved by the PFD board of directors and voted upon by the rodeo membership. Steve will receive a custom-designed pair of Justin Boots,
and his name will then appear on the PRCA year-end ballot for the Justin Committeeman of the Year Award.
Myers has been a PFD member for 10 years, handling ticket sales, ticket takers, ushers, and overseeing the Old Timers Reunion among other tasks. His volunteer teams agree that his expertise with electrical issues has saved the rodeo countless hours, headaches, and expenses over the years and is known for finding things that need to be done and quietly taking care
of problems.
Myersâ dad, Jim, relates that as a kid, Steve had a very inquisitive mind and âelectricity seemed to be the thing he latched onto. He was a natural at seeking out ways to learn more about life. Steve is the guy that can figure it out.â Steve parlayed that interest into a contracting business and has managed several companies over the last 35 years. He is currently the electrical superintendent for Fann Environmental.
Jim Myers added, âMy goal as a dad was to see that he bagged a deer and elk before he graduated high school. He got both and has had the hunting fever ever since. If he doesnât get a tag, heâs the first to sign up to help his buddies with their hunt.â
Congratulations, Steve, on receiving this
exceptional award and thanks for all you do!
