✨ West Coast Swing Magic in Prescott! ✨

What an incredible night at The Bee’s Knees Dance Prescott!

We were honored to host West Coast Swing All Stars Branden Strong and Shayla Bouise for an evening of learning, connection, and dancing. Their knowledge, encouragement, and passion inspired dancers of all levels to grow and have fun on the dance floor.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us. We loved seeing dancers travel from the Valley of the Sun, Cottonwood, and throughout the Quad Cities area to be part of this special event. It’s a reminder that dance has the power to bring people together and build community across Arizona.

Thank you, Branden and Shayla, for sharing your talent with us. We can’t wait to have you back on August 22 for our next West Coast Swing Workshop!

🐝 What Makes a Great Country Swing Dancer?

It’s probably not what you think.

It’s not how many moves you know.

It’s not how fast you can spin.

It’s not how many tricks you can do.

A great Country Swing dancer is someone who can connect.

Connect with their partner.

Connect with the music.

Connect with the floor beneath their feet.

Connect with the moment they are sharing together.

Great dancers understand timing. They develop solid footwork. They learn how to lead and follow with clarity. They know when to move and when to simply listen to the music.

The dancers who look effortless aren’t usually the ones doing the most—they’re the ones doing the basics exceptionally well.

At The Bee’s Knees Dance Prescott, we believe that strong fundamentals create confident dancers. The moves are fun, but the real magic happens when two people learn to move together as one.

Because at the end of the day, Country Swing isn’t about showing off.

It’s about connection.

And connection changes everything.

✨ A Little More Light, A Little More Welcome, A Little More Home ✨

One of our goals for Founders Studio, home of The Bee’s Knees Dance Prescott, has always been to create more than just a dance and fitness studio—we want to create a place where people feel comfortable, connected, and welcomed the moment they arrive.

This week we added shade and café-style string lights to our outdoor gathering space, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere for our students, guests, and community. Whether you’re arriving for class, catching up with friends before a dance, or lingering after an evening of music and movement, we hope this space encourages connection and conversation.

Every improvement we make is part of our commitment to building a studio that serves our community—a place where people can connect, create, and find belonging through dance.

The Best Feeling Is Doing What You Love With the One You Love ❤️🐝

Life moves fast.

The days become weeks, the weeks become years, and before we know it, the moments that mattered most have become memories.

That’s why we believe in this simple reminder:

Capture everything.

The dances.
The adventures.
The laughter.
The silly moments with the pugs.
The road trips.
The classes.
The performances.
The ordinary days that somehow become the ones you miss the most.

When we look back through photos and videos, we’re reminded that our greatest blessing isn’t the events themselves—it’s getting to experience them together.

Building a business together.
Teaching dance together.
Serving our community together.
Growing older together.

And of course, sharing it all with Perdita, Levi, and Lily along the way. 🐾🐝

Long before we danced country and ballroom, we danced and taught Swing and Lindy Hop. These were our first dances together. And sometimes we get back to our roots.

There’s something special about the energy of a big band, the pulse of the music, and the joy of moving across the floor with a partner. Before The Bee’s Knees Dance Prescott, before the Country Swing, Arizona Two Step, and West Coast Swing classes, there was Swing. There was Lindy Hop. There were countless hours learning, practicing, teaching, and falling in love with both the dance and each other.

These dances taught us so much about connection, musicality, creativity, and partnership. They laid the foundation for everything we teach today.

Every now and then, when a great big band starts playing, we’re reminded where this journey began. The footwork comes back, the music takes over, and we’re transported right back to those early days.

No matter what style we dance, we’ll always have a special place in our hearts for Swing and Lindy Hop.

Sometimes it’s good to remember where you started.
