What a wonderful evening celebrating art, conversation, and community at our Legacy Arts Society Tea Party with guest artist Linda Ganstrom.

Guests enjoyed an engaging presentation exploring the rich history of tea culture, ceramics, and the art of collecting. Linda reminded us that collecting and exhibiting art is itself a creative act—one that helps shape the kind of world we want to live in. We are so grateful to Linda for all her involvment at the Filley and most recently curating our current exhibit "Queens." Additonal thanks Linda Ganstrom for creating 75 beautiful custom unique tea cups (Which made such a. beautiful mini exhibit for the night) for each guest to select their special fit according to their tastes to take home and enjoy! Check out these wonderful photos from the event.

Most importantly, the evening was an opportunity to celebrate and thank our Legacy Members. Your generosity makes everything we do possible—from educational programs that serve more than 1,300 youth each year to exhibitions, classes, tours, community events, and the continued growth of the Vernon Filley Art Museum. The visitor numbers at the Filley grow every year and we are now approaching 9,000 annually.

We were also delighted to share exciting news: the museum has begun the process of acquiring a piece by Linda Ganstrom for our permanent collection, "Alice," which will become the first life-size sculpture in the museum's collection. This significant addition reflects our commitment to preserving outstanding artwork for future generations and ensuring that decades from now, visitors will continue to be inspired by the artists of our time.

Thank you, Linda, for sharing your knowledge, creativity, and friendship with our museum.

And thank you to our Legacy Members, sponsors, board members, volunteers, and supporters who continue to help create a vibrant cultural future for Pratt and our region.

The future of the Filley is being written because of you.

Sincere thanks to our business sponsor, Ninnescah Rural Electric, for making the event possible.

Thank you to our board members for their hard work to prepare and donate delicious appetizers for the event - Our "tasteful palette of treats" was provided by Kerry Enick, Kim Fritzemeier, Sue Givens, Cassie Goyen, Cindy Keller, and Greg Hanson.

Thank you to our Board of Directors for donating the wine and beer for the evening, and a special thank you to Taylor Williamson at Flower Shoppe for the beautiful floral arrangements.

Sincere Gratitude and thanks to our Legacy Members for their generous support.

Irene Spencer was an American artist whose work captured warmth, tenderness, and the quiet emotional beauty of family life. Best known for her expressive mother-and-child portraits, Spencer developed a style that blended softness, sentiment, and graceful detail. Her artwork often centered on themes of motherhood, innocence, affection, and devotion, creating images that felt both intimate and timeless.
Throughout her career, Spencer’s paintings and prints found a devoted audience among collectors who appreciated her ability to turn everyday human connection into meaningful visual stories. Her work became especially recognized through collectible plates and limited-edition prints, where her gentle compositions and heartfelt subjects made her one of the more familiar names in decorative and collectible art.
Spencer’s art continues to be admired for its emotional sincerity and nostalgic charm. Whether portraying a mother holding a child, a young figure in quiet reflection, or a tender domestic moment, her work reflects a deep appreciation for love, family, and the simple beauty of human relationships. Her legacy remains in the lasting appeal of pieces that speak softly, but with genuine feeling, to generations of collectors and art lovers.
