The second week of our Trip to Taiwan featured a visit to Chewology in Westport to enjoy some Taiwanese cuisine. New flavors, new aromas, and a refreshing atmosphere—everything felt like a delightful adventure. Above all, it was such a joyful journey thanks to all the fellow travelers who joined us.

For the final week, we plan to wrap up the trip by watching the Taiwanese film "Eat Drink Man Woman" directed by Ang Lee.

The Trip to Taiwan kicked off this afternoon! The session began with an informative presentation by Daphny and Kally on Taiwan, followed by Mai Tseng sharing the KC Taiwanese Association’s dedicated efforts to bring Taiwanese culture to the KC community.

It was a truly meaningful time as we gathered to discuss Taiwanese culture and fun facts, celebrating the presence and gifts of our neighbors with Taiwanese backgrounds.

Huge thanks to Daphny and Kally for providing Taiwanese tiger roll cakes and boba tea for all the attendees.

Next week, we’re visiting Chewology in Westport for an authentic dinner experience.

As we prepare for our Trip to Taiwan this Saturday, I can’t help but look back on the adventures we’ve shared over the past three years. We have recognized and celebrated the cultures and histories of the Middle East, India, Korea, Africa, Japan, Spain, Native Americans, the LGBTQ+ community, Indigenous Alaskans, and Greece by tasting global cuisines, visiting places of worship, and watching films together. These experiences remind us that we are all deeply interconnected and interdependent. Our community is undeniably more vibrant and beautiful because of our diversity.

The last stop of the Trip to Greece was St. Dionysios Greek Orthodox Christian Church in Overland Park. It was a great opportunity to experience the central and important worship service in the Greek Orthodox Church and hear about its history, icons, theology, etc.

Now we’ve finished all the trips for this year. Thank you for your interest and participation. We’ll continue on this journey toward diverse cultures of our neighbors next year. Stay tuned!

We enjoyed the Greek vibe and food at Tasso’s Greek Restaurant in Kansas City last Saturday. It was the time full of joy and laughter.

We’ll wrap up the Trip to Greece by visiting the Greek Orthodox Church in Overland Park this Thursday. We’ll attend the Divine Liturgy at 6:30 p.m. and then take a moment to converse with the Priest at around 7:45 p.m. For your information, it is the custom for the faithful to stand for the majority of the worship for Greek Orthodox church services. However, visitors are welcome to sit if they find the amount of standing too challenging. See you Thursday.
