Jackie Sedlock Pottery

Jackie Sedlock Pottery dinnerware designed and hand made in Vermont I identify with those who work closely with the earth for their survival and the survival of their communities.

Working in mid-range stoneware fired in oxidation, my work reflects my experiences in nature and an interest in agrarian cultures. I’m interested in how this lifestyle relates to our connections with the land and with one another. I see ritual and devotion in this kind of work . Ultimately, I’m interested in how these practices connect is with each other and the land, therefore instilling us with

a quiet but powerful knowing. My hope is that in making functional pieces for everyday use, I can offer the user a way to focus on the moment and make the connection between their meals’ origins and their place in the greater circle that is all of us. From the time a person chooses a cup or bowl from the shop and then the cupboard, they are making a choice to be reminded to stay mindful on daily basis – a small ritual. I believe these daily rituals, great or small, can bring us to a greater consciousness – a collective consciousness that might enable us to live a little better every day

A couple tea cups from . Wondering what this little snail-gazelle is looking back at…
Over the winter making pots for the show , I got to thinking about in-between places and how we often inhabit them. I’m trying to work on inhabiting those places fully and with presence. Some interesting drawings and creatures are coming out of this time. The snail gazelle is one.
It’s slow but fast. There must be a children’s story in there somewhere ..

We are about to embark on . We’re all making a lot pots, and making a lot of progress, too, I hope.

I hope you’re all making a lot of progress this morning.

I have two more spaces in this upcoming workshop. This is a four day throwing retreat. You will have a lot of time to practice tableware forms. The cohort is small and you’ll get a ton of attention. We’ll focus on developing form and decoration. You can stay at the workshop or visit for the days. Check out the link on my website and give me a ring if you have questions.
