Yesterday’s Powhatan Village Farmers Market turned into something none of us expected.

One minute we were enjoying another Thursday evening at the market, and the next we were trying to hold down tents and protect ourselves and our businesses from incredibly strong winds, rain and hail.

Here at Kinetic Spirit Art, I had to drop my tent and literally hold on while the storm moved through. Some inventory was damaged and lost, and several other vendors had tents and merchandise affected as well. It was scary, chaotic and something I definitely won’t forget.

But what stood out most was our community.

Vendors helped vendors. People opened their vehicles to give others somewhere safe to shelter. Ellie was right there helping wherever she could, and Officer Sullivan went out into that storm to help make sure vendors got to safety.

That is what community looks like.

I’m grateful beyond words that everyone is okay. Merchandise, tents and displays can be replaced. People cannot.

Thank you to everyone who helped, checked on one another and showed exactly why this little market community is so special. ❤️

Well, the Farmers Market got a little more exciting tonight than any of us planned. 😳⛈️

The storm came in FAST and the wind was absolutely insane. We had tents going down, inventory flying everywhere, and at one point I had to put my phone down, drop my tent, and literally hold on for dear life.

A lot of vendors lost tents, inventory got soaked and scattered, and it was absolute chaos for a few minutes. But thankfully, everybody is OK. ❤️ Stuff can be replaced — we can’t.

I’m posting all three videos because they really show just how quickly things went from normal market weather to complete craziness. We’re still waiting to hear exactly what came through Powhatan, but whatever it was, it was intense.

My heart has always been in helping people move through the hard seasons of life, reconnect with themselves, and remember that life is meant to be more than just getting through the day.

Kinetic Koaching is about helping women stop just surviving their lives and start truly living them.
