Remember Sun Valley Beach

Remember Sun Valley Beach Sun Valley Beach is a keystone memory of our childhood. Save Sun Valley! Description
Sun Valley Beach is a keystone memory of our childhood.

Unfortunately as time went on the park was not maintained and managed as well as it should have been. We have put together a team of people who have the experience and know how to turn this into a park that you, your children and your children’s children can enjoy for many many years! I feel like a lot of people are getting mixed messages and, as who we are and what we're doing gets passed along,

the message is being distorted so I'm going to take a little time to tell you all, straight from the horse’s mouth who we are and what we're doing. WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE'RE DOING:

We are a group of local business men who are trying to save a part of our past. No, none of us are millionaires, but we work very hard and normally succeed in what we put our minds to. That being said to answer the question of why are we torturing you, why are we begging, why not just open the park, what's taking so long and similar questions here's why. HERE'S WHY:
The park unfortunately has been allowed by previous ownership to go down hill. On top of its deterioration it was never an actual pool but instead more of a man-made lake with some concrete around the edges. Not only is this unsafe it's also not up to code. As a matter of fact, not much of the park is up to code. The whole pool has to be repaved, the pumps replaced, the slides repaired and the grounds need a good bit of work as well, the deck is rotting, some of the electrical isn't up to code. As you can tell there's a lot of work to be done. To give you an idea we've received quotes between 1.5 and 5.5 MILLION DOLLARS to refurbish this park. Now that's a lot of money, money that we can contribute to but NO WHERE NEAR what we need for this project. That's why we've decided to involve the community while also working with investors. When dealing with this large amount of money investors are one of the best ways to afford it (I should know I, Norman, do small business consulting) Unfortunately often investors take time. They want to see a lot of details and analysis and then they want to have some third parties run numbers and analyze everything as well. We can't afford to wait that long. The park is owned by some great guys but they want to sell the property and they'd prefer it be sooner rather than later. They've worked out a great deal with us now we just need to raise the capital to purchase it. That's where you come in. We're holding a festival Sept 14th and 15th (www.SaveSunValley.org) where you can come and spend the day with your family, meet the people behind Save Sun Valley and have a great time. There will be a 5K and Family Fun Run, a huge car show and vendors of all kinds, great food, live music and at night there will be a 40' movie screen on the lawn with a movie that's included with your ticket into the festival. Then the 15th the car and craft show will continue with live bands throughout the day. In addition to all of this we're working on doing a concert (shhh.... I wan't supposed to tell you but now you know) We can't release the performer just yet but it's a good one. All of this is to raise community awareness as well as funds to secure the park. Our goal is to have the park secured within the next 60 days and I know with your help we can do it! So come out have some fun and help us Save Sun Valley!

Here is page dedicated to another part of our lost childhood, the steam locomotives at Six Flags.

In 1966 two steam locomotives were built for Six Flags Over Georgia. They traveled around the park for 37 years before being converted. Lets remember them
