So Cal Speed Events presents​...

The Poway Rodeo Youth Barrel Race Qualifier, August 22, 2026

To be held in conjunction with the

So Cal Speed Events Speed ​-Fest Jackpot!

Thank you so much to the Poway Rodeo Committee for providing this opportunity for the youth barrel racers!

The results from the Youth 4/D Jackpot 8/22/26 will determine the qualifiers for the Poway PRCA/WPRA Rodeo - Youth Barrels.

The Top Six in each of the Divisions, as well as the bottom 6 of the Youth jackpot will qualify to run at the Rodeo. A total of 30 qualified contestants will have the opportunity to compete in the Jr Barrel Race at the Poway Rodeo.

Note that the committee will be given the full results of entries/placings for the Junior Barrel race and will have the opportunity to select alternates from that list as they wish.

At the end of the jackpot, if your are announced as a Qualifier and you would like to compete at the rodeo:

The entry form must be filled out and the $​ 100 entry fee must be paid. Parent/Guardian will need to sign the forms.

The representative from the Poway Committee will be there to accept the paperwork, and photos of each contestant will be taken.

Contestants are encouraged to bring a hat/ western attire for their photos, although DRESS CODE is not required during competition.

This will be an afternoon/evening race so Youth will have an opportunity to run under the lights!

The Second Annual Brews & Boots returns to Old Poway Park on Saturday, August 15, 2026. Join the Poway Community Foundation for a relaxed summer afternoon as we Sip, Savor and Support Poway Nonprofits. Enjoy local craft beer and wine, connect with friends, and take in the setting under the trees at Old Poway Park.

Every ticket supports programs that serve Poway’s children, seniors, individuals with special needs, and the organizations behind our arts, music, sports, parks, and outdoor activities. It’s a fun afternoon that directly benefits the nonprofits strengthening our community.

The event runs from 3:00 to 6:00 pm, with VIP early entry at 2:00 pm. Childcare is available for a fee. For additional details and ticket information, please click on Event Tickets below.

Get ready to sparkle, shine, and show your stars and stripes, Poway! In celebration of America’s 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, the City of Poway is proud to announce its first-ever Red, White & WOW! patriotic decorating contest.

Poway is already known for its Fourth of July traditions including festivities at Old Poway Park, Veterans Park and two spectacular firework shows. This inaugural contest invites residents and businesses to join in the Semiquincentennial spirit with a community-wide celebration of all things red, white and blue.

Poway residents have two options to choose to participate: best outdoor display or best window display. Businesses compete in a separate category.

Everyone gets a say in choosing winners via the People’s Choice award, with online voting open between June 22 and July 2. A digital map featuring photos and locations of all contest entries will be available on the City’s website, making it easy for residents to explore and support their favorite displays. A special panel of judges from local veterans and military service organizations will name Judge’s Choice awards in each category.

The contest is open for Poway residents and businesses. Registered participants receive a yard sign encouraging their fans to vote. Decorations must be visible from a public sidewalk or street and displayed between June 22 and July 5.

Contest Guidelines
Submission Period: Applications open now and due June 15 by 5 p.m.
Eligibility: Open to residents and businesses within Poway City limits.
Theme: Decorations must be patriotic (not political, party-affiliated, or offensive).
Visibility: Decorations must be visible from the sidewalk or street.
Display Period: Decorations must be displayed from June 22 to July 5.
Safety: All décor must follow safety guidelines and not obstruct sidewalks, driveways, or public access.
Identification: All participants will receive a yard sign to identify their residence or business for the contest.
Winning: Participants can only win in one category.
Registration: Participation is free.
Photo Consent: Participants agree to have a photo of their decorated home and their address on the website/social media for the community to view. Participants should be aware that residents may drive by to view decorations.
Enrollment Cap:
Residential/Multi-family: 50 Applicants
Businesses: 30 Applicants
Judging: Judges will stop by on June 24 to view decorations and displays.
Entries will be evaluated by a panel of four judges with affiliations to Veteran organizations and military service.
Entries will be voted on by the City of Poway Community for a People’s Choice award.
Disqualification: Applicants not following these guidelines may be disqualified from the contest.
