For 175 years, Germania of Poughkeepsie has been dedicated to the preservation of, and the education of the public about German and German American Heritage and Culture. Germania is a membership organization with a full calendar of events that promote the German culture. We have German language classes and beginner ballroom dancing classes. We are the home to Germania Singing Society and Germania Almrausch Schuhplattler Verein. Save the September weekend after Labor Day for our annual three-day Oktoberfest and the weekend after Mother's Day for our annual Maifest. Having a party? Rent our clubhouse or Pavilion. No cash on you? ATM on site and we accept credit cards. We are home to Dr. Charles Gilbert Spross Unit #167 Steuben Society of America. We are a volunteer organization; Germania is a great place to meet new friends, celebrate your heritage, and keep busy.

PROST! Get your lederhosen and dirndls ready for Germania's annual OKTOBERFEST! Join us for a weekend of authentic German food, pastries, b**r, live music, dancing, stein holding contest, vendors, and great company. You won't want to miss out on this one! The event will take place rain or shine. Free parking is available. $5 admission fee, $4 Veterans and Active Military with valid ID, children under 16 no charge. Service animals only please.

Join us tonight at Germania for one of our favorite traditions: Gerhard's baked half-chicken dinner. Gerhard Stoetzel was an honorary member and trustee for many years, serving as the Buildings and Grounds chairperson and House Manager, and working with the Oktoberfest committee since its inception. He was also a fantastic cook and baker. A few lucky members learned how to prepare his delicious baked half chicken, which we proudly continue to serve during our summer dinners. Please come out tonight to honor Gerhard's memory by sharing the food and fellowship he loved so much.

Germania hosts the Dutchess County Historic Tavern Trail event on Friday, July 24, 2026. Doors open at 5:30 PM. The evening will feature a presentation by Dutchess County Historian Will Tatum titled "Revolutionary Germans" which explores the vital contributions of German settlers to the American Revolution.
