Last year we had hot dogs, now it’s time to switch over to lasagna!⁣

We’re thrilled to announce auditions for our production of 𝘕𝘌𝘟𝘛 𝘋𝘖𝘖𝘙 by Hanna Kime (who you may remember was the playwright of our staged reading of 𝘋𝘖𝘎𝘚 in 2025)!⁣

𝐀𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬: May 9th @ 1pm & May 10th @ 7pm⁣
Self-tapes accepted until MAY 10TH at 11:59pm.⁣

Performances: July 31st at 7:30, August 1st at 7:30, August 2nd at 2:30.⁣

𝐀𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐍𝐄𝐗𝐓 𝐃𝐎𝐎𝐑:⁣
Something horrible has happened next door. With those children. And their parents. And the chains. So Sheila, then Helen, then Erica, Cathy, Kathy, Miranda, Patty, Julie, Linda, Allison, Martha and Bebe just stopped by to check in, drop off some comfort food, and hear how Brenda’s holding up. I mean, she couldn’t have known. Right? ⁣

𝘕𝘌𝘟𝘛 𝘋𝘖𝘖𝘙 is an explosive, darkly comedic, and layered (like lasagna) dissection of pseudo-feminist self-actualization rhetoric and the pleasures to be found in proximity to pain.⁣

𝐀𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠:⁣
𝘕𝘌𝘟𝘛 𝘋𝘖𝘖𝘙 features 13 women characters. While these roles are written as women, 𝐰𝐞 𝐚𝐥𝐬𝐨 𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐚𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐧𝐨𝐧-𝐛𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐬.⁣

𝐀𝐭 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝟔 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐫. We are intentionally building a cast that reflects a range of identities across the entire ensemble.⁣

Actors can be any age, but 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐨𝐦𝐬 𝐨𝐫 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐬 who have settled into their routines long enough that every day looks exactly the same, who are motivated by a need to insist they have made all of the right choices, and who have not been in denial long enough to be at a breaking point, but will inevitably arrive there someday.⁣

Ever dreamed of competing in the legendary Nathan’s Famous International Hot Dog Eating Contest? Now’s your chance to experience the competition ~without~ the stomachache in our staged reading of DOGS by Hanna Kime! ⁣

Auditions will be held June 7th and 8th at 7PM @ The Center for Performing Arts at Rhinebeck. We are also accepting self tapes.⁣

You can check out more information on auditions at www.definitelyhumantheatre.com or at www.centerforperformingarts.org

About DOGS:⁣
It is the Fourth of July sometime in the future, and history is about to be made. We are about to witness the annual Hot Dog Eating Contest. The five contestants invited to this stage have set out to conquer nature, destroy their own limits, and shatter our perception of what the human body is or isn’t capable of. DOGS is a dizzying, anti-plot, high-intensity exploration of capitalism, competition, and consumption that poses the question: how long can we keep all this up?⁣

CHARACTERS⁣:

ONE……….Naomi Bell, 24-25, she/her, any race, the best and she knows it⁣
TWO………Val Davis, 30-32, she/her, any race, once the best, resentful that she isn’t anymore⁣
THREE….…Trish Peck, 26-28, she/her, any race, never won, doesn’t care, knows too much⁣
FOUR……..Carol Martin, 40s, she/her, any race, has been doing this for decades⁣
FIVE……..…Paige Long, 20, she/her, any race, her first time and she’s so thrilled to be here⁣
HOST………20s-40s, he/him, any race, not quite nice enough to be a himbo

So, bit of a snag – one of our actors had a hit put out on him, so we gotta hit pause on this weekend’s run of The Two Gentlemen of Verona, New Jersey. ⁣

Don't worry though, we’ve got new dates for ya. May 3rd and 4th at 8PM.⁣

Don't make any other plans. Capisce?⁣

In all seriousness, we’re super bummed that we’ve had to postpone. We hope everyone who was planning on attending can still make it, and those who couldn’t make it before can now! ⁣

Always appreciate the love and support!
