The February BOM will be up soon. I need to re-draft it. My Guild found the Nuthatch too difficult to work, ao I need to make the Blue Bird a bit easier.

Our October block is a Cardinal on a branch. Print out this image to 8.5" and trace it onto your light colored background cut to 9.5" or larger. I would start with a 10" square background piece, crease the center and outside edges to match the registration marks, and then trace. You can always square down your block to 9.5" after your block is complete. I would make a suggestion that you make the leaves in a yellow green, the berries in either blues, purples, or oranges, and make the Cardinal's mask in a medium charcoal grey. Too dark of a green and red berries will just make the whole thing too dark. The branch is done with a bias stripe cut and folded to 1/4" wide,

OK, so our first Block of the Month (BOM) for 2018/19 is for October. I have created a simple block with easy curves and large sections to get everyone started off. This page is for the beginner as well as the advanced Applique Artist, so thread your needles and let's get started!
