How to make a chess board 101: start with 33 equal squares 4 border pieces, pre-stain, oil-finish, lots of mixing, seal coats, flood coats, a power outage, bubbling disaster, 14 hours of hand sanding, finish coats, chisel edges, nearly cut yourself on a blade while fitting cork, round over the bottom, wipe it down, and then after three and a half weeks, you have a beautiful chess board.

Massive project just delivered today, curly “tiger” Maple and epoxy chess board. The pieces are an leather-bottomed anodized aluminum, and cork board lines the bottom to keep it from marring whatever surface you have it on... Full project post to follow.
